Hello,
My wife just got a bike on the work scheme so I'm selling the old one I put together for her. It's a nice bike. fairly decent wheels and tyres. Feels pretty quick to ride. Frame pretty flexible so nice and comfortable.
It's a Raleigh silhouette Metallic pink frame. About a medium ladies size. toptube (virtual) is 55cm c-c and seat tube is about 53.5cm c-c
Comes with fairly new bio flex ladies big saddle.
Schwalbe Marathon racer tyres with not a huge amount of use.
Rigida Chrisna rims on quando hubs.
Dual pivot tekro brake caliper on front.
dual pivot back brake caliper.
Charge half link chain
unbranded crank with chain guard
wellgo platform pedals.
Has silver metal look mudguards.
I thiink the ratio is about 34/16 or 34/17 from memory but not checked.I put a Wald basket in the picture. you can have this for a tenner and you'll need to find some bolts for connection to the handlebars.
bike is working ok. Needs a few new nuts on the panier and rear mudguard as bolts are loose and I've just secured them temporarily as I don't have any imperial size nuts handy but it's and easy job to do.
It's got high handlebars but you could swap these for a riser for a more stable ride.
The only thing you may like to change is the brake levers as they don't really do the calipers justice.
pick up from Clapton evenings / weekends or Kings Cross during office hours.
Looking for £200.

If you can excuse my filthy worn out trainers, vietnam vans vs china vans
You can see somewhat from the pictures, but in real life the difference is even more drastic. Two TOTALLY different shoes. The vietnam type are for much much slimmer feet (and fit me perfectly) they also have a lower profile and more tailored sort of shape in general. The china ones are MASSIVE, for people with cankles probably. Even with the laces done up really tight they are still baggy. The sole/rubber edging is also really tall and looks stupid.Build quality on china version is poorer too in my opinion.
The fit is to do with the last shape. The lasts will be speccd by Vans. But with Vulcanised shoes they have to use a metal last which is expensive so they may use a similar last they have in the factory already if the production has moved.
Plus size grading will change over the years. As vans is owned by VF corp, someone in their development team may have decided to standardise their sizings across brands.
A lot of the time the quality of older products is due to less regulation on the glues and using cheaper materials nowadays. this isn't really anything to do with which country they are from.
There are plenty of good factories in China. Lots of production go to northern china where the labour is cheaper now and to hit consistent pricing for the uK market you have to cut corners on materials and quality.
Everytime you move a shoe to a different factory you have to make allowances for their production methods. In order to speed up production they may have made the foxing thicker so they can wrap it around the shoe with a greater margin for error.
Generally if you're paying the same price for the same shoe year after year the quality is going down!
