Max, I wasn't at your level, but we still kept the honor of the cosmic name. Finished 4th after a very very tight game against Polosynthese...
Through telepathy with Todd, I know you played strong and have become another shinning star in the cosmic cosmos.
Well done cosmique!!
And I look forward to receiving a post card from cosmic island.
Ps
make sure it's addressed mat not max ;-) -
From toddy...
Quite high up so altitude makes it harder to breathe. Ghetto courts. Rubber surface with cracks and few holes. Scaffolding style boards round sides. Small courts too. Fun though. Some results...
each team playing 5 games today. Cosmic won 2 out of 3 so far. Lost 1-3 to synthese :-( Played well but Anna back holding goal with her 18cm mallet head! got Bang bang next (who are they?).Daddy beat lequipe 2-1. NT playing later.

Still can't get the good times out of my head...want to see more pics and some vid footage.
Big thanks to...
Jono, LHBPA, LPC, UKPC, EUPC, old polo supporters, new polo supporters and the cosmic family.
Best polo weekend this year...everything felt right on and off the court. Moments like these are to savour and is what drives me to keep playing polo - I love it!

If you want one final make it a single elimination tournament.
If you want a double elimination tournament you have to accept the format.
- 1, hence my vote as the poll is based on a double elim knockout.
perhaps poll questions should have been...
a) vote for a single elim knockout
or
b) vote for a double elim knockoutid go a...providing seeding into knockout stage was legit

lets face it, most game/tournament formats in polo don't make much sense...we still mix up way too many formats...league, round robin, swiss, single/double elim, best of 3 games, first to 5 goals, timed and unltd...etc
every tournament final cosmic has played in has been based on double elim and we've dealt with it accordingly. sometimes we've had the luxury of an "extra" life and known we can play the potential 1st game safer. othertimes we've had to give it our all from the start. knowing your position into a game def changes your mind set and tactics needed to get the win. Therefore, when you enter a tournament it should be clear from the start the format rules.
how you get to a final isn't easy any way...winners bracket means playing only hard teams and staying focused in between long breaks...going through the loser bracket means you not only have a 2nd chance but you potentially play easier teams or at least till nearer the end and you've also played more games which could be a positive or a negative, as you could have more momentum or be more tired into the final vs the team from winners bracket. Overall, on paper it sounds unfair that the team who made it into the final by not losing any games can potentially be knocked out by a team whos already lost once (possibly by the winner bracket team). so on that thinking playing a double elim final makes sense and is fair.
personally for a tournament format, i like a round robin group stage to seed into a single elim knockout with all games timed, team who scores most goals wins, only one final, team who wins all games is the proven best!

Yep, thanks for all the cosmic support...it means a lot.
The tournament was very challenging due to the conditions. At times it was super frustrating, but it really forced us to adapt our team play and the experience gained is valuable.
The final was super tense and at times tight...each team waiting for their chance. Respect to NT for the game they presented...Cam for MVP...he had the skills to handle such a court...his style is always awesome to watch although a bitch to play against ;-)
Massive pat on the back to colin and edinburgh scene for putting champs together. the format and team reffing worked well and the off court facilities were great. No tournament is an easy task...so full credit to stepping up. But going forward, we need to ensure some court standards are always met.
Good to see some northern polo and some familiar faces in mixed up teams - electric cream did Cambridge proud!
and of course, much love to the cosmic family toddy, snoops and T...love you guys xxx
keep it cosmic xx
