Ha...that sounds more like the feature we did for sky news...it'll be screened in sky3D, so viewers will get taken into the magical world that is within todds beard!
Damn. Oh well, I can just imagine it anyway: Matt Goldenwheel racing around wildly trying ever more outlandish tricks in order to keep the camera focused on him. Todd's beard looming large in every shot. Dr V giving in-depth interview about the migration of bike polo from the US and its socio-economic consequences on the working class. Snoops looking on angrily. Boring!

a) 2 games, 15 minutes, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
or
b) 3 games, 10 minutes, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
I'd prefer a.
Are both versions with games still to 5?
How are points awarded for the results (wins/draws) - for the individual games or overall fixture?
surely option b only applies if its a best of 3 winning concept or else why bother playing 3 games?
-
We are going round in circles here.
Basically, we either go for something like...
a) 1 game with a set time split in halve (court end switchs) with unltd goals to get a win, lose of draw result.
b) multiple 1st to 5 games to get a win, lose or draw result (Something like snoops' idea).
c) stick to what we had last season which was kinda of a best of 3 format with gg, so only a win counts.
what's it going to be?

The point of all this talk is to learn from leagues V1 and V2 in-order to make V3 better.
Whether that means improve the rules of the on court game itself or the structure of the league.
The issue we are talking about right now is the structure of the league...ie game/fixture format. This needs to be different vs throwins and tournies because 1) the league is a points system 2) fixture play lengths need to be a certain time in-order to be worth arranging in the first place. Which is why 1 game of 1st to 5 is a risk...no body wants to trek all the way across london for a game which could be over in a flash.
Using the football league format of just 1 game split into 2 halves...works well for our needs. But it will only work with unltd goals...which im cool with.
It's only when using the 1st to 5 format for a league structure that we start causing problems and make things complicated. Because then we've got to decide on how many games we play, if each is within a time limit, if we allow for draws or GG or if there's an overall winner from a best of xx games.
If we want take into consideration wins, draws, loses, GD, that each team gets to play from each end of court and game lengths being of a worthy time...the football league format is probably the best option.

or yes...we could just keep it to the time old tested football league format...works for me.
Guess we were just trying to give the polo league it's own individual format - but hey, why bother.
But to add....what ever format we all vote for, it would be good to stick with unltd goals in a set time limit format (30mins in 2 halves). That why you'll guaranteed good play length, which makes turning up for a fixture more worthwhile.
Overall, the most important thing we need to get out of the league, is guaranteed competitive, regular play over the winter and a reward for winning at the end. Oh and of course...get as many teams involved as possible to have fun!

Agreed. That's why rewarding the overall goal difference is important. It also makes the second game become more intense and tactical. It will incentivise teams to push for the win or get the better goals difference.
The point system would still work well by giving 2 for a win, 1 for a draw and 1 additional point for the best goal difference.
I feel this game/point format gives the overall fixture more depth.
