... i've not fully tensioned the wheel but i think it will only use about .5mm of exposed thread....
When you say not fully tensioned, does that mean you've tensioned them a bit, or are they still loose and floppy?
Most ppl say that longer nips are just for deeper rims and use the analogy of the same woman wearing 2 skirts - one short, and one long. Either way the amount of thread inside the nip is the same. I don't know if this is true. I have used longer nips once and it was fine.
I've always found that by the end the spokes poke out the top of the nips, so could have prolly gone a bit shorter.

Respray,..? NO
Any chrome..? The fork maybe - there are places in Hatton Garden
Sell it, how much..? £150-220 depending on the day
Ideas.? **If it fits, and you have the money: clean and polish with tcut, mudgaurd bosses on forks and chrome, then build up as a pathracer as suggested... or just sell on eBay. **
TaOh and whatever you do, don't respray. a) it'd be a shame and b) it's money down the drain.

Not that its adding much but I took a day one out when they first brought it out (flat bar + cantis) and thought it was great. If I'd been in the market for an OTP I'd have definately chosen that over most of the other offerings (plug/langster/etc.). Judging from that and a spin on a friends geared Day something-or-other, I've got to say Genisis seem like good bikes.
Also surelyt the dayone looks a million times better?

...altho I still prefer the original:

Only on my road bike but...
1 tube
1 CO2 inflator
1 cylinder to go in ^
2 tyre levers
1 allen key set...got to say I'm fucking amazed at how much kit is in some of the lists.
@ The Seldom Killer what kind of distances do you usually do and how often have you needed the majority of those bits?*
*genuine question - really curious

In my opinion both the noodle and the randonneur look a bit shit...
.... I'd also suggest you buy a dropbar with an ergonomic bend, ie a flat part right in the drop section, way more comfortable.
...they may look shit, but they're design like that for comfort rather than satisfied the aesthetic need of the hippity hoppity brigade of clerkenwell road.
Sure if you're given the choice between an ugly component that works or a beautiful component that doesn't, I'd go with the ugly one. But if it's possible to have a part that combines aesthetic beauty with function, there's no point in going with an ugly part other than showing how anti and rebellious you are.
Obviously this is the internet you do have a right to voice your opinion, but WFT?
The noodles and randos don't look shit. There are better looking bars, but they're not ugly. Whereas Ergo bars are fucking hidious!
I wasn't sure about the way compacts looked, but they've grown on me, and for more modern bikes they're perfect. Either way, the smooth curves win over ergos
Also I don't think the flats in the drops of ergos are that great iether. The curves of the compacts are a much more natural fit in the parms of your hands.

...Eastern Asia can only be described as oriental, without a refernce location, by assuming that Britain / Europe is the centre of the world and the datum from which all other areas of the planet should be located. A tad arrogant?
It's been a long day and I'm struggling to work it out... are you saying Oriental is better than East Asia, because it doesn't actually reference Britain as the centre of the world...
...because I like that argument and will bring it up if I ever get called a racist.
True though. Britain is the centre of the world. Well Greenwich is.
We have every right to be arrogant seeing as we invented global navigation by latitude and longitude.^ This.
Also in the spirit of the tasteless jokes above...
...whats cold and blue and makes women cry first thing in the morning?

...why would you PC the cranks (and the seatpost) grey...the same grey as on the bike....
