^ ^^ page 3 or 7 doesn't matter! it's such a brilliant day today, i did xtra miles on my way because i could just to enjoy riding really ... every one seemed rather smoof flowing with the traffic and a few waves, compliments and Oi's! later, i arrive at my desk and think of nothing else than how i gonna gulp down the first golden fresh, cold pint of brittish cycle fuel later today at the KA. hmmmm!
... so come on out ya folks!

thanx guys, i'm sorted now. as lucky as one can be, i found out that there is a bearing and belts shop around in the neighborhood and on my way to work today the very knowledgeable chap told me all there is to know 'bout "propah bearings, mate!" i got some of those linky as they are to be real good quality parts and he recommended them strongly for the application at hand. as to use the rubber sealed ones, they are tighter sealed and protect better against the grit and water while keep the grease in for life (< whotever that means ... probably their lifespan rather than mine) to assure long lasting smoooof roll.
as i mentioned it at the Bright Times, we did have a giggle about the full ceramic ones for a second there ;) unipack with carbon forks - done, ceramics in the original hubs FTW - hmm?! what's next?

thanx mate ... that screwdriver move was what i figured i'd do. the old bearing on top for protection is good, i thought of a bit of wood much like with a headset crown job. thanx!
seems i have to take em out and train to work for that, i really hoped i could get new bearings ordered e.g here given i have the size for no down time. i also try to get some good ones with removable shield for rapid regrease action® ;)

Hi there, i'm in the range of mileage where a hub checkup and regrease is due and after i serviced my front hub (cup and cone), found a ruined race, replaced, regreased and it runs so much smoother than my rear hub bearings.
so since i had a few rain runs , i want to change them too, some time soon, problem is, rears are encapsulated press in bearing types and i have no idea what size to get to replace them. i know they are to last a bit longer between checkups/repack intervalls but they will have to come out eventually.
before i have some replacements to make it a transplant job, i really don't what to take mine out to measure. call it bad experiences in the past.
does anyone has an unipack rear hub laying around that i could acquire, and/or might know or has the chance to measure the bearing dimensions?strategies, hints and tool borrowings offered to make it an easy peasy transplant are more than welcome, as i think it will not be as easy as on my skateboard to pop them out.
sincerely,
reeen

wow, amazing she is still alive! what a strong little girl.
i wonder who finally noticed her? do you think they heard her when they got out of the car? shit!!!!
as far as i know from norwegian friends, did the police come to the accident location only to find the bike, as class mates saw the whole thing going down, they followed up the car to then find the girl, all in a short time period as it seems.
-
Hmmm. You can say that, but clearly neither motorist saw the child, and I'm sure they're both horrified. Without knowing the details of how/why TWO random people failed to notice her, I think it's a bit much to call for them to locked up forever. It doesn't mean they were *necessarily *driving badly.
But having said that I'm fucking curious as to how they didn't see her. I mean...fuck!
well said, just feel unbelievable angry about this accident. i know if in front of a proper truck you're not really to be seen and that girl could have come out on the road from nowhere, let's see as they say class mates saw the whole thing happen. but as a car driver being so close to a truck to not get a grasp at the road and or not noticing something getting under your car is absolutely not excusable and bad. not noticing is rather likely not caring and a whatever attitude. driving a car one can feel different grain of surface and bugs hitting the windscreen let alone a person getting stuck. it's just so very sad.

this is sooo incredibly f*cked! the one thing i find comforting besides that she seems to get out of this alife is that in norway, both the drivers face serious time as the (traffic) laws are rather strict and with in comparison one of the highest punishments in europe for traffic things.
heal well, and put these ppl away for good.

Has anyone built up a decent spec bike to look like a unicrack? Pointless but nevertheless....
that'll be el'squirre. his charge plug got a pow coat and now unipaks in white look a lot like his ;)
i got mine as new but second hand and really cheap as the previous owner got it as a present, got loughed at by his friends and wanted it gone. so my bike runs smooth now after:
- new pedals and chain right away, don't even ask why or i'll kick you! wellgo bmx pedals, kmc coloured chain in strong (parker, a 12er)
- BB came loose after 2! mi and even locktite was to weak to keep it together, on standard shimano since 20mi
- brakes bent under emergency load, both! don't believe it? i'll show u! get proper new calipers asap! (beefy shimano 450)
- spokes changed and wheel rebuild. spokes are too long in them, you cant put tension on them running out of thread due to their softness and length. sapim double butted 1 mil shorter and 4pint of ale rebuild session and i got reasonably round-ish but quite straight wheels for 24 spokes, 1650 mi on them, never trued since
- stem - get a new one right away, the alu is soft and the threads for the clamp bolts are most likely fucked before or during install
- brake levers are a joke, plastic clamp, burn'em!
- tires are not puncture or pothole proof, buckeled mine, rode it through the rubber at the hump and blowout, got sorted changing them both right away
- head set ran noisy after a rain runs, regrease checkup revealed loose balls in the grease and buckled bearing cage + visible wear on the races after just 500mi -> cheap FSA from halfords, sorted that one
- finally the crank set, alwas been super unraound, slackchain->tootight->superslack->tootight, chainringbolts came of on a descent, takoed my chainwheel, replaced it with "BLB suginos" whot a difference man, now power comes out at the end actually not just noisy wobble noodle bents .
... i forgot, when i got the BB from magic bikes, they noticed slack on my rear wheel axle and gave it a tad with axle spanners (front and rear) for free to be save, thanx for that, super service there.
the list of parts actually left on it is shorter than the replacement list! and just of lately it runs smooth and i make my miles ... its is not of überstrength at all and far from light but comfy/agile and with my new gearing well fast.
excuse me if i made you feel uncomfortable reading all this but they really are dangerous. but i quite like my bike NOW, i learned so much by fixing every possible thing one could have a problem with on a bike by mostly myself and the knowledge accumulated in this forum and of course sheldon. i'm looking forward to put a nice bike together the way i want it right from the start.
ps. if you see me, you'll notice the helmet with the rising sun homage, say hi and/or try race me :P

nice places here for a trip after a stay at a "friend's" place :P
nobody mentioned the west end kitchen, so i do that then:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=west+end+kitchen+londongood food, allday british, diff options for brit. breakfest when in before noon-ish and good other food things, Fricassee, fried fish stuff etc., not that cheap 4.50 to 7 bucks usually, but tasty.

twas a nice eve once more, hope serk brought his new inquiry home savely, we where graced with new faces and even lord blakfoot swung in. ey! vello u bastard ;) i still dwell in the smooth feel of your oh so classic build. how would you describe the hollow external crank set bb setup - any real change in feel and/or power transfer over decent cranks/bb with them?
