This might me a good cheap option if you want a tri spoke, I took the spin carbon composite of my MTB, and fixed it to my road bike. So far it’s been a pleasure to ride, and I know this wheel will take serious punishment. good for around town, and go cheap on ebay

maybe it was second hand, it had a new sparkly badge on it "14bike co" so I assumed it was new. it might have been reconditioned, still it must have been something nice under that paint job and badge to justify 1300 quid . Anyway it seems that my original question has been answered, by way of some interesting tangents, I think the "goods" have it.

the 'fixed penalties' brought in a few years ago do NOT apply to country footpaths where there is no road. Fixed penalty notices also cannot be applied to areas such as parks, shopping precincts etc. unless a byelaw has been passed making cycling such areas an offence, nor do they apply to anyone under 16. Many people (including police officers) seem to think that 'a footpath is a footpath' wherever it is and that the same laws apply. This is not the case.
footpaths or causeways by the side of a road, and that this is still the case has been ruled in the high court. The legislation makes no exceptions for small wheeled or children's cycles, so even a child riding on a footway is breaking the law. However, if they are under the age of criminal responsibility they cannot, of course, face prosecution.

well thats a good point, the bike shop must be selling a lifestyle also to send her packing with 1300 quids worth of track frame, bodge and all.
And i still say its a bodge, why stick crap like that on a new frame? Why not just sell them a road frame with correct fittings. It’s a crime i say, a crime -
I guess I am wondering why bodge on a rear break, what’s the point “apart from the obvious “
The female owner did not seem to care weather the bike was track or road, she was more into the colour.
I totally understand bodging a break to an old track bike if you have to, but not a brand new track frame form a shop. -
I was looking at a white steel track bike in Hoxton, on Friday. The bike had some sort of metal block bolted onto the frame all owing a Rear break, with cable ties fixing the brake cable. The owner said the shop “14bikeco” said it was illegal for them to sell her the bike without it. She had also paid 1300 quid for the bike! I don’t know what my point is, it’s just seemed wrong on so many levels.

I did a pair of spinergy carbon composite wheels.
I started with good sanding all over, to ruff up the surface.
Then a good clean with a degrease agent.
Then tape up, the parts you don’t want to spray.Spray with a plasti kote or similar spray.
Keep your distance and hang wheel outside or in a garage, leave plenty of space so you can move around wheel.
Spay thin coats slowly, don’t rush build up painted surface slowly. It’s important to take your time so you get a smooth finish, let paint dry for a few hours don’t be tempted to take down until paint has completely driedOr alternatively take to a paint shop.
