Yeah, good gloves are the one item I lack.** I normally get away with some thin gloves that people doing work in walk-in freezers wear,** then sealskinz, then some cheap ski gloves. I think this year I will layer up properly so the rest of me is warm enough to compensate for colder hands. I normally just go with a long sleeve t-shirt and ski jacket and end up too hot, but if its still as cold as it has been I think i'll need more layers!

I stacked it three times walking home last night as a commute/xmasshoppingenger, thats what i get for living up a hill i guess. Give me snow ice and slush over boring wind and rain anyday!
Oh and FYI, if anyone does decide to shovel outside their house, it might be an idea to salt the pavement afterwards.

Fucking academic short contracts :-( The thing I'm most jealous of all you CSers for is the monthly installments. I've been saving up for a new road bike forever but at the end of each month I end up spending what I've put aside on food and shit.
Surely if you eat enough food, shit should be free? Provided you have a good capture / storage method.

What you need to do is respect their authority.
Just repeat after me: "Yes officer, I know I was in the wrong, I jumped the lights out of an abundance of caution for my own safety when the lights change but I realise that this is against the law and not a smart idea, thank you for setting me straight. I will stop at the lights next time, of course I will officer. My, what a large night stick you have.".
Basically, keep your mouth shut and suck up to them and be all puppy eyed and guilty... they may let you just ride off with a good telling off.
I'm talking once they have fined you. Before you reach the point of no return it should definitely be as above, maybe slip in a compliment "why officer, your ergonomic safety shit kickers make you look so handsome and commanding".

Yesterday spoke to two people using phones at the wheel. The first, a guy driving a medium sized Chelsea Tractor, seemed to take my hint.
The second, a spivvy dude in a sporty Bentley (that had just tore down a bus lane at the end of Grange Road at Tower Bridge Road in order to get through the lights before all the other single-occupancy cars clogging up the roads). Needless to say I caught up with him in my normal pace cos LO! he was stuck in another queue of single-occupant private vehicles just a hundred yards on.
I asked him to stop using his phone, and cited the 'four times more likely to cause an accident when using a handset' stat that appeared in the press recently...
He had the GALL to say... 'Excuse me, let me speak, but my mother's got cancer and that was her doctor I am talking to'!!! WHAT!? I mean, WHAAAAT!?
'ANND?' I said to him. 'Stop your car if you want to use a handset!'.
Fucking prick. I hate bentley drivers. They are ALL cunts, to a man.
So not only is his poor mother in bed dying, shes also getting the blame for his irresponsibility, what a nice guy.
Off Topic.... but as i watched the YYY's this weekend i asked an irish lumbermouth, to please STFU. To which i got the reply, "NO i won't i'm talking about my dead dad". What a cunt!

Morello was on 6 Music the morning, gave a good humble opinion of the whole thing. I particularly like that he took time to mention that he will be giving a substantial amount of the proceeds to www.youthmusic.org.uk, so that future generations can aspire to create real music and not just be a celebrity. I've bought my copy, even if i already own it.
