Electric cars, especially the very small cars, are basically greenwash and a major strategic policy mistake, about on a par with Seventies promises that smaller cars would 'ease congestion'--more units were sold, and the exact opposite happened.
Agreed. Electric cars simply move the pollution to the nearest power station. Better for a city centre but probably worse on the whole. Biggest load of bollocks since Y2K. Around 70% of the electrickery is lost on transmission alone, then there are generation losses to consider. If you can generate all your own power sustainably and charge your car up from that it could work, but then your house would need traditional mains power as the car would use everything you could feasibly generate.

I also had the same prob when stripping my frame a few months back. In the end I went out into the street looking for a suitable street anvil with the frame sans front wheel, a big ball pein hammer and a block of wood.
Soon found a good'n in a the form of an old bench with massive cast iron arms/legs, perfect width to slide inbetween the forks. Seated the crotch of the forks on the arm with wood between them and commenced hammering.
Took about 10 or 12 good hard hits and then it finally began to come free. Got all sorts of strange looks from passers by as I was right by a bus stop at 7pm on a week night. Then took it all home, threaded the bars back through and twisted the stem out.
Brute force and ignorance can work well at times :-)

I'd love to do this as I've never done the stones solstice thing, but will need to start training up as I've never ridden anywhere near that far before. Spent last solstice in a squat-commune style village near Amsterdam and partied hard from sunrise onward. Totally Mint way to spend a morning. Riding down there would just be so nice.

Oh, and those of you who want to use this as a mechanism to weed out people who start threads you don't like need to have a serious reality check.
Go to a mirror, slap yourself and then think about it again.
There are lots of people here with interests and ideas that are different from yours. Welcome to the planet. That is what keeps things interesting.
+1, any member who is a total R. Swipe will soon get banned and the interim before that happens allows for some fun poking.
Would be happy to stump up the meagre amount, and would also be gutted if the forum got credit crunched cos we were all too stingy to pay a pittance for it. Like the idea of phased entry. If I had to pay up front I doubt I would have joined, or at least thought very hard about it.

I'd say from the evidence at hand, a wanker. Mrs Palmer and her 5 daughters must be a firm favourite for Pistonheads!
