Interestingly I have that frameset, and chose it for being not too far removed from a road bike. That said, the 'road bike' was a 2015 croix de fer (pre long tt short stem geo change) but so far it's been exactly what I was looking for. Nimble enough on the road, winds up to speed well for my tarmac commute. Swap to 650x2.2 for the gvnarvel on the weekend, two-wheel drift past people on full-sussers while laughing my head off. In anti-gravel stylings I run 50/36 chainrings

the Colston one did get to be there for fucking years, so I think it's possible to disagree with the immediate removal of one without being hypocritical, even before you get to the moral argument. Re. statues generally, I kind of feel like some must have had their turn now otherwise the world will become overpopulated with commemorative statues...

There is a fourth option where the place has stylists who specialise in mens or womens hair. No reduction in talking, beer and coffee available (and prosecco against the owners better judgement, but this is only offered by the stylist who demanded it). Longest I've been in the chair was 90 mins, but I have longer hair than most people of any gender.

For jeans that fit exactly like a casual pair of jeans, the best I've ever come across (during some years running marketing at a hipster moto gear retailer) were the Pando Moto Steels. V expensive but I was tempted just to wear all the time. I doubt they'd ever wear out. In a crash, they wouldn't shred (single-layer Dyneema).
For the same thing at a lower price, Richa Original Slim (or non slim, for a 501 fit). Single layer Cordura, won't hold up as well in an off undoubtedly but fits like normal jeans and lasts x4 longer than normal denim sliding down the road. Quality from Richa can be questionable, rivets go sometimes. Decent after-sales care though.
The Rokker gear probably uses the best fabrics, but you have to put up with some of the most 90s looking branding ever, and they like to splash it over the arse of jeans.
Kevlar-lined jeans will be pretty warm, and will need to go in the bin after a crash. I have the Knox Richmonds as they were cheap as fuck and AA rated. They don't look like normal jeans, but I'd rather wear those than textile or leathers (yes I'm a poser, I don't care).
Another option is buying kevlar leggings to wear under high street jeans. Bowtex, or Merlin. I have Merlin ones, cheaper for full kevlar coverage. Personally I use Revit armour in everything, slimmest design.
I wrote this at my old work when the new rules about PPE came in, don't think it's been updated/altered since I left.

Do you know if they're the current version or older stock? The compound and sidewall spec was changed 6-9 months ago and is a lot less susceptible to cuts and stuff. When I first used them I would puncture a lot but the current set I'm running have been really excellent despite being treated horribly with low pressures and sharp flint.

Me and some mates have booked some camping spots but I'm not sure it'll go ahead to be honest, I think it's a nightmare for the site. They're not putting people on adjacent pitches which makes sense, but apparently if you book 3 pitches you won't get say, 1 pitch, fallow pitch, 1 pitch, fallow pitch etc, they spread your booking all over the site to prevent people from gathering. Also, we wanted to be in our small one-man tents and have two people per pitch, which turns out isn't allowed most likely. However we could have two people in one tent. If those two people aren't cohabiting then it was be a. not a good idea and b. maybe not legal/allowed?
Also, no toilets so you have to show up with a camping toilet thing. We're only really planning it as nobody has a garden big enough to space 6 of us out comfortably, and are happy to pay for that option even though we'll be up the road from one of our homes.

I've not ridden that area personally but I know it's a popular climb for cycling so I wonder if there's been a push from that side for reduced speeds. Bit annoying for bikers though as being narrow, there's not so much conflict. The article is a bit odd in that it says there've been basically no prosecutions for speeding, but doesn't mention how many collisions there've been while using the road within the speed limit. I would imagine if that was also basically none, it would have gone in.
I live near Whiteways and the road climb up to the biker cafe there can get a bit hairy when bikers/drivers choose to close-pass but mostly its fine and you get to see tonnes of cool vehicles.

When I built my last bike, I would have gone for a ti Bokeh if money was no object, I think. The ISO is a bit too off-road specific for what I was looking for (which ended up as a Bombtrack Hook EXT-C). It's not as much of a drag on asphalt as it looks like it would be, but I still wouldn't take one on a club run

I've been so happy with my 4-man BA tent I'm v likely to go for one of those when I replace my shitty Berghaus one-man thing. Still cheaper than the Terra Nova one I've played around with, though nowhere near as light
