EDIT: bike is no longer stolen. i have found it. YES!
hello, my every day bike was stolen last night. i am gutted. i really need a replacement as don't want to start using my nicer bikes for everyday use.
55cm seattube would be ideal. 531st would be nice.
it must be able to take mudguards, rear rack and 700c wheels. i don't care how it looks, how ratty it is, dents or rubbish paint...... the more ratty the better......
and my budget is not huge. was not expecting to have to outlay for another bike so soon...... but at the end of the day i would rather spend a little more to get something that will be a nice ride and last.

I'm not sure it will float.
wooden rims?
'like a dull knife aimed at your groin'
S. Brownsounds like a threat.... don't want to find out if its a bluff...
For some reason the American loved them, every old bike I saw there tend to have those.
They're fine to get on with, just feel odd if you're used to bar end/downtube, basically a retrogrouch version of the Shimano 2400 levers - you can't shift in the drop.
i really like bar ends, the bars may go to another project.... but as you suggest, no harm giving them a test ride.
