If you normally run in calf sleeves do you also swim in them when doing a tri? Presumably they’ll be ok getting wet.
Totally fine, I’ve done this loads. Maybe you want to do a practice run to confirm though… I never had even the faintest trouble with compression calf guards. But I’ve also done it with aero coach trip guards but they fell down when I removed my wetsuit so you have to be a little cautious if the guards aren’t super tight.

I think it works roughly as follows:
At each turn the engine assesses which move is the best move, and this is done by thinking N moves into the future. A brilliant move is defined as a move that is better than the best move identified by the engine. I think this is most likely to occur because the quality of the brilliant move is only revealed when you consider a longer time window.
So, the “best move” might be best when looking 10 moves ahead, but the “brilliant” move is revealed as best when considering 15 moves ahead.

I just trashed my rd… what’s the current thinking on groupsets for cx?
I’ve got a focus mares cx and am currently on an old version of sram rival (hydraulic disc).
I’m thinking I want to swap to shimano for consistency with my other bikes. Looking for 11sp, hydraulic disc, probably 1x (I’ve literally never used my big chainring on my cross bike 😭). Other than that I probably want the cheapest option out there.
I’m guessing grx is the best bet, do they have a 105/rival equivalent? I’ve not really followed recent tech so is there anything else i need to worry about?

What is the motivation for farmers to string up dead corvids along paths? I just removed the body of a dead jackdaw hanging suspended by its neck in the crook of two branches right next to a small footpath bridge. This is the third dead corvid I’ve found suspended in a tree in the local area recently and it just seems a shame. I know it’s legal for farmers to shoot corvids under certain circumstances but why hang the bodies so obviously?

The word “gadfly” is used to describe someone who persistently challenges authority, often by repeatedly asking potentially uncomfortable or pointed questions.
I’m sure there is another word, possibly also in the form of a “[something]fly”, often used to describe a dilettante or someone who flits incessantly from topic to topic… but I can’t think of it. Can anyone help me remember what it is?
Maybe @Oliver Schick?

I don’t think you can enter as many as you like. I used to be mates with the Bermudan cross country skier (at the last 3 Olympics) who said that he and representatives of many smaller nations were only able to qualify because of country quotas. He’s a good skier but iirc he barely qualified for US national events and never qualified for a World Cup where there are no quotas and 90% of the field come from the top few countries.

It feels churlish to suggest that his career limiting crash was his own fault, and I'm sure it informs his current comments that he was on a TT bike at the time.
I have always liked Froome, but IIRC wasn’t he was riding his TT bike no hands down down a descent during a storm while putting his jacket on? And didn’t his team mate (Puccio?) tell him to put his hands on the bars just moments before? That doesn’t seem like the bike’s fault to me.

Where are jumbo? I know wout is in group 2 but commentators just said he had no one to help pull things back together? Are the rest of the team all sitting on the back of g1?
