Arducius, this is the link to the Oxonian/City of Oxford/Mid Oxon TT series. The link is for 2010, but you should get involved for next season - I really enjoyed the ones I did!

I think I just paid membership to join the University Cycling Club (actually I joined the tri club bit think I therefore automatically join the roadies too...) As yet I know nothing about it/them but I think that at least the tri club welcome non-university members and they seem like a decent bunch.

I did the Dorset one of these this weekend. I'm booked in to do the Half Marathon distance at all of them but Anglesey, but they also run a 10km and a full Marathon at all events as well as a few ultras. I'm thinking of upgrading at least a couple of my races. Awesome event, hard work but well worth the (quite expensive) entry fee.

not BMX but pretty insane riding!!

Gee Atherton came in second overall despite not being a free rider. He is the second rider you see and the video shows him down to the end of his run. Apparently the two riders who tried the same line as he did ended up with a broken wrist and broken ribs.

very nice ^

What?? How did this happen?? When I signed up a couple of years ago, I'm sure that username was taken!Definitely not fair.
[/flounce]Back on topic...
I was going to post this one in anti, but given the fallic bars I thought it does actually qualify for porn.

Where are they from and what is the point of the battering ram? I mean, it can't be anything to with getting aero can it?
**Edit, sorry just found the full photos of the dildo bike in anti where it belongs, but still what the hell is it supposed to be for?

Probable repost but couldn't find anything with search...

The vid is a bit long and drawn out but they look like some nice bikes (no idea how they ride). If the bikes don't count as porn then skip to the gratuitous shots of Mario riding about topless.

... Leaving the pub down to Henley through Stonor we must've seen a flock of atleast 20-25 up on the hill to our left....
Pah thats nothing compared to the flock we saw on the way back to Oxford, there must have been millions... literally!
First forum ride for me so really good to put some names to faces. The ride back to Oxford was good fun with some tough work into a stiff headwind just to finish off the legs at the end.
Great Scenery, kites, drinks (I particularly enjoyed the err.. pub lunch) great company and great ride!
Enjoy your cycle!

I've had a few weeks off the bike to rest a knee injury, and am a bit out of shape. So I'm **not **going to be cycling to WD to meet at the start. What I might do is cycle straight out to Watlington, and follow the route in reverse to (Marlow and onwards if need be) to meet up with everyone coming from WD.
Any other other Oxford people be up for that? It would mean a later start, and a few less miles, but would give us more countryside and hills. This is what I thought we were doing anyway, just getting as close to WD as possible... Sorry if I wasn't paying attention. I'm down for this just say when and where to leave.
*must remember to build bike.

going no-handed down by the river in richmond on the way back from richmond park laps, ran over a squirrel. i so very nearly stacked it, win that i didnt stack, fail that i hurt a squirrel :(
If you hit the squirrel in London then it was a grey squirrel and you arguably did the nation's biodiversity a service. Well done.

Again, I'm sure you're not a prick, but this my prejudice and I'm sticking to it.
Ha... a pretty fair prejudice mostly. For my part, I know nothing about bikes and don't claim that I do (I joined up here in the possibly misguided hope that I might learn something useful). However, along with most other triathletes I probably do need quite a lot of special treatment - I think it's to do with too much chlorine bleaching my social skills.

I'm pretty sure that Rafeal are using that bike on their website as advertising (Similar bars/cranks/break set up, different wheels)... why not stick to the photos of the track bars with backbreaking drop?!
http://vonrafael.com/en/concept-spyder.html#
I love the integrated nose cone/hydration system on the r-011
Edit: Ed, I think that is the concept Track bike (the Spyder) but they do have some stonking looking TT bikes (see link)

I'm always a little mystified by the whole transition (T1) process. It seems like a few seconds spent putting your shoes on properly before getting on the bike would pay dividends later, even at the sprint distance.
Aye, My routine involves sitting down on the floor (dizziness from the swim exit befuddles my head) putting my shoes on quickly and running to the bike mount zone in my cleats taking care not to slip. That said a couple of seconds either way doesn't make that much difference over a 10 hour race!
Every second does count for the elites, but what I don't get is that in ITU events you are allowed to draft, so surely a couple of seconds lost in T1 doesn't make much of a difference so long as you get yourself into the lead group on the bike.

does this one still work?

wow thats sexist, you try running x amount of miles and then getting on a bike and staying stable fatigue causes instability due to heat exhaustion etc....DICK
Well, as it happens my sport of choice is iron-distance triathlon. So, not only have I swum 1500m, biked 40km then run 10km many times but I regularly train and race over several times this distance. When you have swum 2.4miles, ridden 112miles and followed it up with a cheeky marathon then you can talk to me about fatigue.
As for sexism, I fail to see how pointing out that it is women who are doing the falling over is sexist. If one existed I would be equally happy to post an equivalent video of the men's field.

No can do for a ride this weekend. I've got a trail half marathon in Gower tomorrow its going to be wet windy, cold and muddy! Oh, and as a lay about student I won't be relishing the 05:30 start to get there in time!
