There are some photos of of JFK jr next to Trump who really brings out what a trashy nuveau riche buffoon Trump is. Yes, JFK is a hideous person on the inside, but he looks pretty damn good for his age and the suit he wore to that occasion was perfectly tailored to his frame. Next to him, Trumps awkward postures and ill fitting suits look just that much worse. Exactly the kind of shallow stuff Trumps base cares about.

Just finished 'The Russo-Ukranian War' by Serhii Plokhy and am halfway into 'Our Enemies Will Vanish' by Yaroslav Trofimov. One thing I struggle to get my head around is how there ever could be pro-Russian Ukranians. I know the standard answers are "they speak Russian at home" and maybe also "they are brainwashed from watching Russian TV". But still... it's really hard to see how a further integration with Russia would bring any significant benefits they didn't already have with their current arrangement.

We desperately need to see Ukraine treat the civilians in the occupied area well though. For example, when the civilians of Kherson staged a march against the Russian occupiers there were soldiers who shot at them. So conversely, I hope Ukraine are able to allow a few Russian babushkas to vent their frustration and show the world that they can take it on the chin.

Loose dentures?

This is only internet hear say, but when he similarly tripped over his words as a president there was commenter on Reddit, who claimed to be a dentist, who described it not as dentures, but the result of very expensive dental work. It has left him with a white shiny smile that's pretty good for his age, but it has also left his front teeth a little bit longer than they used to be. His muscle memory has yet to catch up to this, so his tongue sometimes crashes into the teeth when he speaks.

I doubt that's the reason. Sure, there's some magic the TV people do to counter the effect of strong lighting, but Vance's eyeliner has been pretty consistent over a number of different appearances, including stage events.

Under any other circumstance I'd be the first to cheer on a heterosexual man experimenting with make up. But in Vance's case it looks so much like one of these achieve X using this one weird trick ideas.

The entertainment value of this stuff is just amazing. Better than both the first and second time around. I was disappointed for a second that Noem didn't make the cut, but Vance delivers .

We're setting up a little road cycling group at work.
10 years ago I reckon we could have managed a lot of this on Strava. I.e. set up routes in the Strava app and share between us before each ride. But if I am not mistake this has now become a premium feature? What would be the best low effort method to get us synced before each weekend ride?

Just finished Iain Banks' 'Complicity'. Felt incredibly dated – like a 1990s paint by numbers exercise. Drugs, sex, slacker attitude etc. The more transgressive, the more authentic.

Don't think actual civil war is a possibility, but massive violent civil unrest very much is.

I can't find it now, but there was an article on BoingBoing suggesting that the US could end up with a dynamic more like the troubles in Northern Ireland, rather than a civil war with clearly defined geographical front lines etc.

I don't get why you guys so focused on the card itself. The issue at hand must surely be the lack of a central registry of all UK citizens? Plenty of countries have created such a database without forcing a physical card on anybody.
