My tip of the day on this subject - check the tools you are carrying actually do the job you intend to use them for.
I tried to take my rear wheel off earlier using a cheap and nasty 8 way spanner. All I succedded in doing was bending the spanner beyond repair. That's now in the bin and a man size 15mm ring spanner has joined my tool kit.

I've just ordered a new sprocket and chain whip / lockring tool.
Having never swapped one of these I've a numptie question.
I assume the lockring is threaded the opposite way to the sprocket. Which one is threaded 'back to front' ie turn anti clockwise to do up?
I'd hate to beat the granny out of the lockring trying to undo it when I'm infact tightening it further.

OK, so I've utfs and, instead of starting a new thread, I've found and tacked my question on this one.
Here's my dilemma. I only did a skid once and that was mostly by accident. At the moment I'm running with a front brake. Does the collective intelligence that is londonfgss.com think that if I htfu and remove the aforementioned brake I will learn to skid properly and quicker than if I leave the brake on?
I also have no foot retention and don't wear a helmet.
Thanks in advance.

After riding the plastic fantastic geared toy all summer I finally went for a reasonable ride on the 'ole Steamroller this afternoon. Probably covered about 25 or so miles with no problems but never really spun out so am going to try a lower gear. Current set up is 48:18 so I've ordered a 19t sprocket. Like the OP I feel I should be loving my ageing knees.

Let's hope it doesn't turn out that the guy had just heard that his partner or child had been rushed to hospital or that his house was on fire. You know, bad driving for sure but let's not jump the gun....
Last year I was driving through Peckham and spotted in my mirrors someone driving like a real arse. He was overtaking recklesly and generally barging his way through. I gave him a bit of wide white van action when he tried to carve past me at some point but he eventually got past me by using a bus lane. I did feel slightly bad when I spotted him parked 1/4 mile later by a car that was wrapped round a tree.
edit - for sake of clarity he was rushing to the accident and not the cause of it.

When some cunt smashed up my car with CCTV 50yrds away, plod couldn't give a fuck. I had to pay the council £50 to ask them to view CCTV. Unsurprisingly the CCTV 'wasn't working' on the day it happened. They told me this after I'd paid them.
Good for fuck all Lambeth Council cunts!
I can assure you Lambeth's CCTV works fine, especially when I barely put 2 wheels into the last 10 feet or so of a bus lane to get past a queue of traffic turning right. Bastards!

well done for following it up - he did get off lightly but he might think twice before being such a cunt again
+1
Gotta say, white van drivers - I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire ;)
Now down to serious business, can those comments regarding the incorrect reg number be removed? Googling the reg. number to find the top hit is accusing the driver of being a child rapist is not clever!
No - you'd have been past her before she stepped back. Acceleration fail!
