Yeah if I was doing the route regularly I would do Isle of Dogs and the foot tunnel it is slightly longer but anything to avoid Rotherhithe Tunnel. The cars are restricted to 20 and there are cameras so particuarly at busy times it is really unpleasant and the cars get in the way. The pavement is OK until you meet the odd pedestrain or other slower cyclist. Tower Bridge can be pretty horrendous too.

Hats thanks for the advice why did you need yours delibrately broken?
The Livestrong link is utter claptrap the referencing is poor and the the key statement is 'you should ask your doctor' as in the states you have to pay to see the doctor and yanks tend to be hypochondriacs and talk about their health like we talk about the weather. Whilst there is some research that shows using your body aids bone density the major factor is still diet.

If you are up for coming to the Hackney Bikeworkshop http://hackneybikeworkshop.com/ we would love to have you come along as we are always looking for new volunteers and you will get a lot of experience.
Another suggestion I have is most of the local LCC groups do Dr Bike sessions which are good for learning the basics thoroughly because you have to take on all comers so you get good at making quick descisions and coming up with noval ways of doing things.
Another good person to talk to is Therese who is now a mechanic at Look Mum No Hands she has worked at a lot of bike shops and set one up herself at Hackney City Farm.

Open Our Towpath Demo
The Lea towpath from Homerton to Bow has been closed from now (ie 23 days before the Opening Ceremony!) until September as a so-called “security” measure for the Olympics. This is a heavily-used green lane through East London and there can be no rational reason for it to be closed this far ahead of the games, or even during them.
LOCOG and the police claim, despite 6m high electric fences and cameras, that the path is closed for security reasons. This is forcing cyclists onto busy roads, denying local residents access to recreational space and sending out a hypocritical Olympic message.
We are holding a peaceful demonstration/picnic THIS SUNDAY 8TH JULY at midday on the towpath under the bridge. We really need as many people there as possible to help show how many of us are affected by this – local residents, cyclists, walkers, families, commuters ….
Bring a picnic to share, placards, and as many like-minded folk as you can muster to show our displeasure at this unnecessary and unfair closure

We hope to see you there!

These aren't bad but not as good as the Tacx
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bike-cycle-maintenance-repair-work-stand-/150850787791 -
These Tacx ones a re good and the by it now price is great I would buy it but the workshop has enough stands
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-Workstand-Repair-stand-folds-flat-for-storage-Tacxs-make-/280912427687 -
They have plastic nuts and clamps which stop working I guess if you use them for occasional home use they are fine but MG was talking about removing a BB on one that would defineately test to destruction.
The best I have found was on E-bay I will post which when I get access the Tacx stands are all good you have to be careful on e-bay though as the the bidding tends to go high.

The Tour of Flanders, Milan-Sam Remo and Bordeaux-Paris were just a few of his victories. This film traces his life from humble beginnings in a small village in Durham, to the World Championship podium in Spain in 1965. Reminiscences from professional colleagues Barry Hoban, Vin Denson and the great Eddy Merckx, and Simpson's team manager and cycle mechanic from the 1967 Tour, Alex Taylor and Harry Hall add to the story.

HELP NEEDED
Bikeworks dropped some boxes of parts in our new depot @ unit A, 250 City Road
However, they're against the wall and the electrician needs to get access for putting in plugs
Would be great if 3 or 4 people can please move the ones at the edge (not the whole pile) away from the wall
2 people could do it, just more fun and quicker with 3 or 4
