weather is looking nice for polo - i'll be there at 6 if anyone wants early games/warm-ups.

i'm going to be in the bullring thursday afternoon with a dahon rep demonstrating bikes. hopefully i'll be near this so i can heckle the wimpy non-cyclists...

we rarely play on sundays, although fin was on about a once-monthly meeting.

either way, the forum alone doesn't really work for organising same-day games. it's very wishful thinking to get 5 responses in a few hours. i've nearly had success a few times from texting people, but inevitably if it isn't planned a long time in advance or on a wednesday, polo doesn't happen.

i'm thinking we'll probably make a mini-league for the brum day out. that way everyone gets a decent number of games, and there's still something to play for. what time do you reckon you guys could make it over?

no worries - the black stuff is very light but wears out a bit quickly. i'll be there from 10-4.30.

i have some black pipe you can use (drop into on your bike saturday if you want). if you find some yellow stuff, give some to me!

me and the missus will come out about halfway with you lot on the tandem - don't think we have it in us to ride to and from leamington on winnie, and there's not option of the train.

i can't make sun 20th if you're still planning on going ahead - father's day and nobody from brum seems to be up for it. apologies.

i think i'm going to bail out as well - torrential downpours do not herald big turnouts and with so many people otherwise engaged i don't think we'll get more than sodden 2 on 2s.

to be fair i think it will probably be least useful to you guys as you're close to the top london standard anyway, but from brum's perspective we're in a different league, and it would just be nice to play some competetive games rather than just get whooped.

we're definitely going to go with July 4th - court is very close to birmingham city centre so ideal for train travel (plenty of parking too). probably going to start around 11am i'd think. how many of you lot will make the journey?

sunday games are few and far between. geneva is mid july 16-18th.

i reckon it's all about piss-poor driving and horrific littering. i see more of those in balsall heath and sparkill than i've ever seen anywhere else ever.

the worst place is that junction with the middleway (by the mosque, surely a cctv focuspoint) 1-6 people drive through illegally every time and then ther are always multiple cunts parked illegally in highgate despite there being two carparks.

anyway, everyone knows if you shake your head nobody can see your face...

once again, apologies to london types, but the aim of these meet-ups is to attempt to equalise the standard of polo across the country. london players get to play several times a week against a wide variety of competitive teams, and although it sounds like cambridge and mancs have a large enough scene, more variety can only be a good thing.

give us a bit more time in brum (maybe autumn or next year) and we'll work towards having our own cambridge-style tournament for which all will be welcome.

non-london basically. anyone else is welcome who can make the date. it's loosely a pre-geneva warm up, so we'll be playing in our geneva formation for most of the day, but other people can do what they want.

yeah, sorry about that - of course some people are going to be disappointed. but if we're hosting we want to make sure our geneva team can actually make it! hopefully the people who can't make the 4th will be able to make the 20th in manchester.
