i'm not sure it's as clear-cut as you think, ben, but i agree about the team-play ability being crucial. unfotunately, we've never really spent much time playing as 'teams' for any amount of time, so it's hard to clarify roles. i know on the american forum they're constantly on about positions and a/b/c players - we're nowhere near their level, but it may be useful to think in those terms.
pub meet then? - i think we'll need the 7 'interested' players to meet all at the same time, perhaps before/after polo one night?

we need to appoint an ambassador for the euros - i hereby nominate the right honourable lord allah of hype! (if he is unwilling/unable, i'll put myself forward, as i definitely want to go, and definitely will be able to afford the time and money).

we also need to start the decision process of picking a team - perhaps the first thing to do is make a poll where we all rate each others ability, so that way we have a ranking/priority in place to choose from. sounds somewhat ruthless i know, but there's no point just picking a random team... we could do it as a (anonymous) poll on here, put lists in a hat next polo game, pub meeting? anyone care to comment?

it's tragically ironic how the people who are paid to drive (bus drivers, cabbies, white van men) are the most aggressive/disrespectful. it's almost a catch 22 - the people whose sole source of income is being paid to drive cannot justify the responsibility.
how can a bus driver even be allowed behind the wheel with a mobile phone on him? hse wouldn't let people operate static heavy machinery whilst on the blower, how can it be possible to just get behind the wheel of a bus where there are so many more uncontrolable variables.
i'm getting really fucking militant on the roads in the last few days. after noticing the upturn in activity of this thread i really want to put my u-lock through the next audi driver's window, and my fist through his/her face.
drivers of any vehicle need to appreciate the responsibility they have.
X end of drunken rant X

that roundabout by joseph chamberlains is awful - i've ridden across it a handful of times and never happily. after living in the area though, i can't see many reasons for going near it - i always take route 5 into town through highgate (which is its own can of worms). if i wanted to go to pc world or anything i'd go round the back.
with a little thought, there are loads of routes around town that don't force you onto this massive multi-lane arteries.

let's hope it's dry on wednesday night - i think there's supposed to be rain arriving, but not until sometime later in the evening.
looks like there's a throw-in tournament in the smoke on jan 2nd - i'm supposed to be working, but could potentially do some day-off juggling if people are interested in going. (i may be in the smoke at for nye anyway, so could stay around)

(i'm guessing a throw-in tournament means mixed up teams? could be a good way to play with better players/bring people down to our level)

that happened to me just last night on the moseley road bus lane outside the fried chicken place opposite lidl. as usual, some asshole couldn't contain his/her lust for cheap poultry faces and beaks and had to park outside blocking an entire lane of bus/bike traffic. behind said asshole a family of three was standing in the road waiting to cross.
they see me approaching and move forward. then decide i'm going to fast and move back. then decide it's too late to make the safety of the road and move forward again. cue deft swerve and 'get out of the fucking road you motherfuckers' cry from me.
there are two pedestrian crossings either side of that spot. either use those, or wait on the pavement until there's a gap in traffic! if you do have to dawdle in the middle of traffic, at least have the good grace to behave predictably.

they changed the address to something like leagueofbikepolo, but bikepolo.ca still works.
