I already got out of bed at 6 and tried to do 40 miles in 2 hours, then come on this ride. Muss be mad.
20mph is well hard, solo. i tried to get that fast last year, and managed 19 for an hour and a half on my fixed. you can screw around with routes and gradients to help you out, but that's kind of cheating.
it's cool to have some kind of aim, but i couldn't come up with a good enough one to keep training at the expense of polo, which i enjoy so much more than just riding. when i'm older and richer i'll enrol for the etape and then train my ass off for a year to see what i am capable of.
until then it's all just wheelie-goals and half-volley shots. for me.

we were planning it to be a one-day event, 10-11am start would be nice, but there's probably going to be more visitors than locals, so if you want to say noon, that's fine with us.
i expect we'll be all wrapped up around 6pm, but it really depends on turnout/format/local yoots/number of throw-ins. personally, i'd be happy for a 12 hour polo marathon.
also, if anyone wants/needs to stay over on sunday night, we'll certainly be able to put up a few people - just let us know.

After the national champs and cambridge tourney, we've invited Cambridge and Manchester polo players to Brum for a day of polo.
So far we have around 6 people from Cambridge and 3 from Manchester who look interested.
Myself, Ben and Dan will be playing as a team all day to practice from the Euros. If there's enough people who show up I suggest a mini-league format IE: organise teams (probably 4-6 all together) at the start of the day, and each team plays each other one or two times, 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.
so, register your interest on this thread, organise teams, whatever. all brum players are welcome as it would be really nice to show off our burgeoning scene.

photos from our games in brum to give you an idea of what our court is like - seems a fair bit bigger than the one you used at the recent tournament, but maybe that is an illusion caused by stronger opposition:
