excellent photos dan, really show the court off well, especially those high-up ones. did you post a thread on the london polo forum? get a bit of word-of-mouth going, maybe...
how many one-legged shots? maybe ben is on to something.
i slammed so many times that day - two photos of me on the ground nowhere near my bike. trying a bit too hard...
can't wait for the euros now. friday is going to be ace, i just hope we'll have some energy for the competitive games on the following days.

thanks for coming, manchester - so much fun to play with similarly enthusiastic players in our own backyard. the whole point was to get a decent amount of court time with competitive teams and i think it worked out really well.
it seems that loads of people appreciate our court, which i thought would work really well. if we can officially book it, we'll do a bigger, open tournament, possibly over a few days. that would rule.
well done to netto+ben - i really enjoyed our last game with you guys.

cheers for coming today guys, it was so good to play/speak with other people and the little mini tournament worked out really well i thought. congrats to fen boy for winning the worst organised tourney of the year!
look out for photos on our forum and london's forum - we'll look into booking the court and maybe throw an open tournament so everyone has the chance to play on what seems to be one of the most suitable courts around.
looking forward to seeing the fen boys in geneva. roll on the fondue!

*SUCH* an awesome day today - thanks to everyone who made it along and especial thanks to dan and ben for playing so well and getting us to the semis, i expected us to finish lower than the b team but we ripped them and played so well against netto+ben i was majorly chuffed.
sorry if i was a bit patronising with my "well done"s, "nice one"s, and "yeah, do that"s, but i just got really enthusiastic!
to those who couldn't make it, you missed an ace afternoon of 21 people playing friendly ref-free polo with no contention and loads of sporting behaviour.
congrats to fen boy 3 for winning the worst organised tournament of the year!
dan_lj - upload some photos!

100 miles on a fixed (especially that gear) is going to be a killer, especially if you haven't been training for it. there's a guy (sometimes on here, sometimes on birmingham cyclist) who does massive fixed rides, but has been building up over years to do super-audaxes (think that's what the crazy 500 mile plus rides are called anyway).
pacing yourself and not blowing all your energy is really hard on a fixed - i built up to around 100k last year, and i suppose i could go further if i really had to, but it won't be much fun, especially the second half. make sure you take loads of food and drink and eat often otherwise you'll blatantly bonk.

update from Brum - we're all set for tomorrow. praying for clement weather and friendly locals.
we'll be getting to the court around 10am, to try to get it cleared of nippers, set up barriers etc.
looks like it's going to be a more informal 'team throw-in' type day, athough people will be free to mix-up/switch teams, so that those of us not used to playing as a team get some practice.
i pm'd crack fox my number - if anyone else needs it, pm me.

i've got us some barriers for plugging the entrances - about 18" high, so enough to stop the ball but easy to step over.
can someone else pick up cones?
i'm thinking we should format this as a team throw-in tournament (set up teams ad-lib if you're not already in one) and use one 'team mallet' to throw-in.
i don't think there's much appetite for a league set-up and it would be less attractive for any newbies who want a bash. also, i don't think we have enough people to ref and goal ref and organise a league format etc

low flange fixed/free hub, 32h, black, cosmetically tatty, but bearings still smooth (cartridge ftw) 120mm spacing - £10
campag front hub, silver with q/r, 36h, looks nice and bearings spin okay, but a bit rough in the fingers (sure it will be fine when built up)
shimano 16t freewheel, loads of life left on the teeth, but it's been sat in my old man's shed for a few years and has gone a bit rough inside - i reckon it'll sort itself out with judicious applicaiton of gt85 followed by a thicker chain oil. if it doesn't work out, i'll return it - £5
cane creek cross top lever l/h without clamp bolt (should be easy to find) - £5
