Wow, 2007. That's more than four years ago. Maybe my memory is not shot to pieces after all.
It's "gumby".. http://www.lfgss.com/thread1274-2.html#post75434

I think it was fixedwheelnut who said, many moons ago, "just let your legs go gumbly". I think he may have been describing how to do 200rpm on a descent, but it might work for getting started as well. Oh, and if you feel you're spinning out of control, get the legs spinning more, otherwise you're likely to start oscillating wildly.
It's fun though - I think it took a couple of days of commuting for me to get used to it.

Yep, that's fine. Let me know if there any other bits you'd like me to bring into town on Friday. Must check whether it's got the bit to clamp the cable - i have a vague recollection of seeing a calliper somewhere that was missing a bit, but I guess it'll still be in the parts box if it's come loose.

I asked someone about the upper body strength thing (yes, I am a cyclist) and was surprised at how much info he was prepared to reveal about the show. But he said it's a process of drip-feeding information because that's likely to keep the press from going mental about not being told anything - better to keep them busy with titbits than encourage them to dig for the full story.

I'm looking for a very nifty little item that I had until two weeks ago, when I foolishly let it go on bike I sold. I have sent a PM to the new owner in the hope that I might be able to retrieve it, but in the meantime I wonder if anyone might know where I can find one.
It's a steel recessed front brake bolt with a long body and (this is the clever bit) a 10mm hex head which has a threaded section of bold extending from it, onto which you can fit a front mudguard bracket.
Gilles Berthoud sells them for a few euros but postage is then 18 euros on top, which is a bit steep!

Sadly I've had to back out of buying the lush Rolf wheel - I simply can't scrape the necessary cash together, although it is a real bargain for a super-light wheel.
PM sent with my apologies.
