I had a look around and couldn't find a thread specifically about saddlebags (or one of the above variations on the spelling) so thought I'd make one for people to stick them in.
Any type of saddlebag welcome but I'm more interested in handmade/home-made or adapted bags.
I'm currently having a play with a Bell handlebar bag that I picked up from ASDA for £7 the other day with the idea of creating a saddlebag that will comfortably hold enough kit on medium sized rides.

This bag would be pretty ideal to just whack straight on the back of a Brooks (or other saddles with bag loops) but seeing as I'm using a standard railed saddle I'll be making an adapter of some sort.
I came across a post by Velocio about Carradice, who make a really good range of bags but they also do all of the adapters and accessories required for most bags. The ones I thought looked best were:

and

So I'm going to have a play and see if I can make something that will do the same job.The other thing I'm considering is adding a velcro loop on the back of the bag to secure it to the seatpost, but I'll give it a try without to find out if it's necessary.
I'm going for budget on this bag (and probably any other I make/adapt as I don't have much money and I don't believe you need to spend a lot if you're good with your hands. -

32 seriously beautiful miles in Herefordshire in and around the Wye Valley. Buzzards, Swans and only 3 cars in 2 hrs of riding on my first squeak-free ride on the new rig. Which is a good thing with 1000 miles of riding commencing on Friday.
What route did you do? There are some lovely lanes in the middle of Herts and I want to expand my routes a bit, but it helps if someone has already found the nice bits!

I have a complete charge plug medium (when I say complete I mean that It's a whole bike, but It's not standard. Lots of nice parts). Would consider splitting. Have a look here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread67442.html

Sounds good. I'll keep checking back and see what I can make. I like the look of the potters bar route as It's an extended version of a route that I mapped out to get off main roads and enjoy the countryside more. Little did I know that the elevation could rise/fall by something in the region of 1245ft over 21miles!

I like the sound of this overall concept and also the idea of several people completing different sections each. It's almost like a charity ride that my brother took part in recently where there were several teams of riders covering different sections of a route that went up and down most of England and they would carry a mascot that would have to be passed on from one group to the next so that it travelled the whole way.
I'm living at Potters Bar so would love to get involved and do a section (if people fancy doing something like this), if not then I'll juststealmap out a section the M25 route and give it a go.*If nothing else, this thread deserves a bump.

I'm new to the whole TNRC thing and seeing that I've now moved out of London it puts me at rather a disadvantage if wishing to participate in all of the routes. So rather than travel out to lands far away I'd love to ride the routes near to me.
I'm living in Potters Bar, so there are quite a few routes around my way, but I'm not sure when they're likely to happen. How do you decide which routes you are going to do and when? Also, is there a ride every week or has it become a little more spread out over the months/years?

I have this for sale if you're after a geared bike or are willing to have a play with gear ratios and half links to get it running ss/fixed.
Price and parts are negotiable as I'm not sure what I've taken off/used in the last couple of weeks!

I've recently moved, so I thought I'd update my profile. I've done so but then realised I've never seen that info anywhere on anyone's profile. The section you fill in called Additional Information - Biography doesn't appear to show up anywhere on peoples user profiles. Am I just being stupid and can't see it?

I might be starting on this \/
as a project soon, if I can haggle my brother down to a good price.

It's a Raleigh Equipe, but not the 531 version but looks to be in pretty good condition. Anyone know anything about them or what they're worth? He says it's pretty much had a complete new groupset at some point, which could have been 10 years ago! -

Tyres £20 ebay
So closer to £120 on recolectionWhat's the bar tape? I was looking for some brown tape that wasn't massively expensive and there doesn't seem to be much about.

Nice looking bags from Carradice, just a shame I can't afford them!
I vaguely recall seeing a thread with a couple of posts from someone who'd either made their own saddle bag or adapted a bag and it looked really good. The problem is that this was probably more than a year ago and I can't find it anywhere!
