Thanks for popping this in the correct thread!

Wanted to get out early and do a solo century in 5 hours today. The going was annoyingly stop-starty on the way out of town, followed by random fucking roadworks in the middle of nowhere and shit, so I could tell early on the 20mph average wasn't going to happen. It was quite blowy out there too in some places.
Didn't plan a route. Headed out to Epping Forest, ambled round a bit, dropped down through Theydon and then round some lanes till I joined the A113 (?) and followed it to Ongar; then Rodings, Dunmow (quick detour past my old house, with a suitable air of sombreness); then along what used to be the A120, through Takely, and down into Bishops Stortford (decided against dropping in unannounced on my Auntie Joan, as there's no such thing as a quick stop at her place); up a short sharp hill in a massive gear, and across to Much Hadham; back through Hunsdon to Roydon, then dropped down towards the River Lea, and joined the Crooked Mile to Waltham Abbey; then up Daws Hill in what was by then a difficult gear, and got the train at Chingford.
76 miles in 3h58, so 19.2mph average. Was getting hot towards the end, and I'm fucking covered in thunderbugs. Good to be out there empathazing with hippy, sort of.
Hey BMMF, I'd be interested to see the route drawn up on a map and to see the elevation. That's around my area and I'm looking for going a little further afield but want to keep to quieter roads where poss. Do you live out in Herts as well?

I headed home this weekend to get some miles in. Last weekend there was a sportive in Leicestershire which I missed, so I decided to adopt the route as my own.
Rolled the first 20-ish miles with my dad, which lowered the pace a bit but really put a smile on my face. He rides 3-4 times a week, but usually only about 10 or maybe 15 miles. It was awesome to tempt him out for a longer ride.
The rest was fairly easy going, but psychologically difficult. I started the ride at the 42mile point on the attached map, because that's where I live, so heading out for the loop around markfield was tough - knowing that I was within 3 miles of home, but had many hills and miles left.
Finished in 4 hours 45 mins which I was pleased with, given the slow start and then stopping to read my map at almost every junction. I had a pint of my homebrewed beer as a treat when I finished. It was flippin' delicious.
:-)
Cupcakes, I'm looking forward to meeting you in a week to sort out those levers and now just found out you're from pretty much where I'm from! I come from South Leicester and like to have the occasional ride around Loughborough area.
I joined my dad in a 'churches ride' last year, which I'll be hoping to do again this sept, in which you cycle to as many churches as you can within one day to raise money for your church. We did around 60 miles going from Ashby-de-la-Zouch across to Loughborough and back round again. I think we visited 45 churches in that time and had tea and cake at most of them!
I shall be trying to get my dad out for a ride this week when I'm back in Leicester as it is very enjoyable as a father/son sport. -
Got out on my bike for the first time for quite a while last weekend. Me and FatJoe did this route:
[ame="http://ridewithgps.com/routes/464449"]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/464449[/ame
%22%5D%5B/ame]I was riding geared and FatJoe was on fixed (lowish ratio). We took around 2.5 hours and had some stops to recoup. I think we managed an average of around 13mph.
I went out today on my own on the geared bike and did it in 1 hour 13 mins with an average of 17.24mph. Quite pleased with myself but I was knackered aftrwards, even though it was only a 21mile route. It's pretty hilly as far as my rides normally go.

Here I have a small road bike frame, forks, cranks and a load of extras, which I acquired from a friend a while back and ran it for a little while but decided it's too small for me. Not sure about exact details of the bike other than it's light, small and fast! We think it was built by a local frame builder in Leicester for tt racing. It still has the original gearing on it, which is 44/48t front and had 15-19t on the back, hence the thought of it being a tt bike. Also, the frame doesn't have any "welding air holes" (the only holes in the frame are for headset, bb and brake!), which makes me think it was made by a decent frame builder.
All items in Potters Bar, Herts, but I'm happy to get the train in to Finsbury Park/King's Cross to meet buyer.
- Frame and forks are 531, going by the stickers on the forks and the fact that it's very light and has nice lugs. (All measurements c-t-c) 53cm tt, 48cm st, 10cm ht. Could easily be run as a low pro or as a standard road bike if you're shorter than 5'9" or so. The frame has vertical Campagnolo dropouts but they have enough angle on them that you can still run the frame singlespeed/fixed with a half link in the chain (see image for proof!). It also comes with a massive seatpost, which went high enough for me to ride it and I'm just a shade under 6 feet tall!
- Cranks: TA specialites. 44/48t cogs, don't look very worn and run perfectly.
- Brake levers: they say Cherry on the levers and Weinmann on the hoods, but not sure whether the hoods are aftermarket or not.
**-Brake calipers: **Weinmann Type 500.
- Bars don't have anything on them but look pretty similar classic Cinellis
- Stem: 10cm SR.
BB and headset I think are original as well and could do with regreasing, but they both run.For all of the above I'm asking just £120 ono.
I've also got a few other parts knocking about...
- saddle: white turbo in pretty good condition. No rips, just a bit of scuffing ( the one shown on the complete bike pics)-- £30
- wheels: Tubular Mavic rims on Campagnolo hubs (qr) - 5 speed freewheel 15-19t ( I think. I can't be arsed to count them again!) The rear tyre is brand new and not properly fitted. I have an unopened tube of "Continental Special Rim Cement" glue for them. The front may need regluing, but I don't know as I don't have any experience with tubs so I thought I'd be best to leave well alone! -- £50

For sale: Charge Plug trick bike (or road going if you want it set up like that).
Frame: Charge Plug in good nick size Medium, which is 59cm st 54cm tt (c-t-c) (one dent under chainstay (will add picture when I take one!))
Forks: DMR Trailblades (or original Charge Whisks in Blue). I'll chuck both in.
Rear wheel: DP18 700c on Miche Xpress sealed flip flop hub - 19t fixed cog with space for freewheel on other side
Rear tire: Maxxis Detonator. Plenty of life left in it as I don't skid much due to the awe inspiring stopping power of the cable disk.
Front wheel: Velocity 26" on Magura Pro sealed hub.
Front tire: Specialized Fatboy 26 x 1.25". Best front tire I've ever used and is surprisingly grippy in the wet considering it's a slick! Think I've only ever had 2 punctures on the front. Will chuck in a spare tube for the front as it's a random size.
Bars: Atomlab 2.5" risers
Grips: Odyssey mushrooms (very comfortable)
Stem: Mankind BMX toploading stem - 50mm reach
Headset: original that came with the bike and still runs smooth
Brake lever: Dia compe Gold Finger
Brake: cable disk. One of the best brakes I've ever used and it's got me out of a few tight spots in its time! I've drilled a hole in the headcap and routed the cable through so that you can barspin. Loads of toe clearance due to the 26" front wheel.
Pedals: DMR V8 (not the ones picture. The same but silver. Shown in the pics with dropbar set up)
Cranks: don't have a make - 52t cog. The right side is fine but the left has worn and needs replacing. Standard square taper
BB: runs fine, probably a standard Shimano or something similar, but I'm only guessing as I've never taken it out.
Chain: KMC Kool chain
Saddle: SDG. Pretty well worn but still works. This is a really strong and hard wearing bike and my name indicates why I got it in the first place! The name kind of became a little redundant afterwards too. Never had any problems with it, apart from the left crank.
I'll chuck in a cheapo 700c front wheel as well if you want to run it like I had it as a road fixed.Price dropped to: £300 for the whole bike with spare forks, 700c wheel, spare tube for the front and a ride you won't forget! I will miss this bike, but I fancy a change and can't buy anything else until I have some money from this one.
I'm based in Potters Bar, Herts, but will happily come in to Finsbury Park/King's Cross to deliver.

*Comes with free safety bell (lots of wear, but still plenty of life left in it), lots of cool stickers (these are worth loads, despite the fact they were all free to me) and maybe the odd spoke card that I can't be arsed to take out!
Apologies if I've offended anyone in the process of trying to bring a little humour to my otherwise very serious post.
