i think you're being harsh. maybe the gardener could do them a good deal at short notice and they are just really keen to have it done? if you get along well with them and they said they will make sure you're not too inconvenienced and that any damage will be sorted then to me it sounds like you're just being a bit difficult. if it was my neighbour i'd let them.

party wall got agreed on wed night so i gave the builder the go ahead on thurs morning.
by fri they'd ripped out the old loft, errected the scaffolding front and back. on sat 10 blokes came round and they man handled the rsj's up the scaffolding which was a terrific sight. proper old school hard graft.
they also took delivery of all the raw materials and set the pad stones. they are working at one hell of a pace. -

got into london last year but deferred as i knackered my knee. had great plans for a decent run this year and was running in december but had a mental january then got lumbered with an exam to do for work so have only just had time to do any training. i can't defer my entry another year so i'm forced to run it this year. it won't be pretty.
did 7m last fri and will do 7m tonight. and that leaves 7 weeks till the event.

trying to get the loft converted and need party wall agreement with both neighbours (we are mid terrace). both sides are great neighbours (we've only been there for a month and already get along real well) however it's really sad to say that both sides are tenants and not owner occupiers. this means dreaded party wall stuff where i have to get the legal owners to give consent otherwise i won't be allowed to do the conversion legally.
real shame as both neighbours have agreed for me to carry out the works but in the great scheme of things that doesn't really matter as they don't have the over riding say. now if both landlords want an independent surveyor to come round and do a survey this could realistically cost me over 1k each side. one side is owned by the council so they will without doubt be difficult about this.
a guy across the road got his party wall agreed within minutes with his respective neighbours. just seems it's going to drag on and on for me now :-(
don't suppose anyone has experience of the complexities surrounding party wall stuff? especially when it involves council properties?
i'm not holding my breath....

i was with my totally unprepared mate when i was helping him look for properties. he was keen to make an offer and i was like 'mate you aren't in a position to offer, but lets see if we can pull a fast one and get the agent to put the offer in front of the vendor and see where we stand'. basically he lied and started going down a whole rabbit hole of lies 'i could go back to my flat in camden now and get the AIP but i have to be somewhere this afternoon blah blah' in the hope that the agent would put the offer forward. the agent told him to poke it (quite rightly).
on the other hand i managed to get an offer accepted without the agent seeing my AIP (i didn't have one as was doing a complex remortgage deal but told him enough to convince him i had the money). anyway i dragged the vendor along for about 3 weeks saying i was chasing my solicitors, doing this and doing that with no intention of buying it. it wasn't obviously nice but i had fallen out with the vendor previously (long story).
in a nutshell get your finances sorted first so you can move quick.

mate i think you'll find a lot of vendors stipulate that they won't entertain offers from people if they aren't able to show the colour of their money. anyone can start throwing offers around, but if you want to be taken seriously, get an AIP first. most reputable agents (basically non of them then) require AIP first.

^ i thought the walkie talkie building looked great as sky scrapers go. plus the 'park' at the top is really well done.
anyway, anyone have experience with replacing mortice and simple yale barrel chamber locks? basically i have a mate who is used to be a locksmith and would help out but would ideally like to have a go myself if it's not something too difficult to do.
the vendor didn't give me all the keys when we moved in (just gave me 2!) and a couple of days later some random turned up and put a load of keys through the door, so for piece of mind think it's best to get the locks changed.

completed on friday and eventually picked up keys (just 2 keys) sometime after 2pm. seeing as though i only had the van till 5.30pm it was a race against time to get the stuff in and do as many loads as possible. (managed 2!).
opened the door and was relieved to see the pipe work still intact so luckily the poles hadn't run off with it. i thought it was all too good to be true, but soon realised it wasn't when the vendor didn't give the estate agents the key to the back door so i had that faff to still deal with. 2 days later some random bloke drops a bunch of keys round and one of them is the back door.if anyone is planning on buying in walthamstow area stay well clear of central estate agents. they are a complete bunch of useless cunts.
