haha the thing is i was being quite covert about the whole thing by emptying out nearly empty boxes and then keeping them to one side always whilst looking a bit shifty and keeping one eye on the only member of staff on the shop floor...then bolting out of the entrance with my 3/4 boxes. now i just walk up to the back of the store, go into the back with one of the guys there and collect them out of the cardboard crusher, that's much easier!

just get the boxes from lidl. i have been making regular trips there to pick up fruit boxes and they are by far 100 times stronger than the flat packed boxes u can buy online. i think i've got 27 currently sitting in my flat all loaded up. they have strong handles too.

only issue is they don't have lids so bear that in mind when your driving the van!

i'll be moving on Friday (30th) so if anyone wants my boxes just let me know. i'll be based in walthamstow then so if you can come up and collect i'll keep them for you.

i've duked it out with the scumbag estate agents, absolute cunts of mortgage providers and a dodgy vendor and can now say the deal is done and i'll be moving to a new place in Jan.

Good luck out there folks. it's a mine field and you have to be persistant, wary and entirely synical about everyone involved in the whole process until you get confirmation that contracts have been exchanged. There are just too many kinks in the chain that can fail and fuck you as a buyer.

by the way reading other comments in the thread i ported a 10 year mortgage to buy this so don't be put off by locking in for long fixed mortgages if you are after certainty around monthly payments but worried about being 'locked in'. cheers

would be good to meet up again and say a personal thanks to Matt for his commitment to dragging us round some fine routes over the course of the year come rain or shine.

gutted i missed this. took my dad on the london to brighton off road route for his 69th birthday instead. did amazingly well seeing as though he hadn't ridden a mountain bike in about 20+ years. i'd be up for doing this route with you guys another time.

got a puncture on the way in this morning and realised i left my tire lever in my other bag at home.

queue lots of huffing and puffing trying to get off a gatorskin without a tire lever.

in the end i managed to improvise with my barclays bike hire key fob. quite impressed with myself.

however i'm sure the maps look different than they were after this reboot. i'll save a route tonight and go out and ride it and see if the maps look 'similar'.

the plot thickens....

i've now lost my maps i had on the device. previously i has the 'trail bundle' and that gave me really good OS detailed maps. but when i turned it on and used the 800 last night it just had a picture of europe and a pointer indicating that i was in london! any ideas what's happened now? if i could upload some pictures here i'd show you but i don't know how to upload photos.
i went into the mapping part of the options and 'enabled' the two options that were there. any ideas?
it's as if the memory card is no longer being recognised. any thoughts? cheers

i don't bother with strava and only use garmin connect but now after the refurb i don't like it at all and miss the simple 'upload' function which have annoyingly changed to 'garmin express'. oh well

oh right cool. can you tell me now (i'm an absolute numpty when it comes to stuff like this), how do i basically do what you do then? i.e. have a hard copy of everything on your HD then upload from there?

(btw i was the bloke who came up to you on the turbo and said hi during your warm up for the canary wharf tour series race)

yes, got a good training ride i did with hackney cycle club on sunday uploaded so at least that was saved. weirdly it's still got a lot of the routes on there that i'm sure i've saved after February.
just means i have to re-create all my pages again etc etc. i wonder why it did that, how annoying!
i just hope when i sync it later it doesn't fuck up all my activities currently saved to my connect profile, that would be savage if i lost all of that.

quick question guys.
every morning i turn my 800 on whilst i'm getting my bike ready. it doesn't pick up a signal as i'm indoors so says 'cannot find satellite, continue searching?' or something like that.
then when i get outdoors it picks up signal and away i go.
this morning i went outside and it said 'continue searching' so i said yes, then just appeared to go to the garmin 'warm up screen'. after a while it came to life and started asking me what language settings i wanted, then my age, weight etc. i got to weight and turned the dam thing off as i don't know what i've done. have i managed to do some kind of hard reset? would i have lost my rides etc?
WHAT HAVE I DONE?!
