Andy, I have a suspicion that you weren't at the match and TEH RULEZ provide that those who attend have the greater right to an opinion of what happened.
FACT
Just back from the game, so my opinion was: Chelsea, terrible first half, United even worse second. But to be honest, Chelsea rallied in the second half and without dominating completely were deserved winners. In fact, I can't remember any United period of dominance in the second half. I was sat in the east stand upper, just in front of the journo's. I had a United fan to my right and another, two places to my left, but I have to say the Chelsea fans were great in not taking any offence to this and bantering with these guys and me throughout the game. As a neutral, it was a great atmosphere.

Can I take this opportunity to openly apologise to Clive (I have already done so by PM) for any insinuation that he may have 'gone along with' any racism that went on at Chelsea in the eighties in my post a couple of days ago about use of the term 'yid'. It was not my intention to do so, but upon re-reading I can see that the inference was there. This is extremely unfair on Clive. There are idiots at every club (like the toerags that chucked a brick at Clive's daughter), but thankfully the moronic racist element in England has been reduced to a minority. Don't get me started on many eastern european clubs and UEFA's pathetic fines for blatant racism. I have stopped going to North London derbies because I find the Wenger chants from a few idiots sat around me embarrassing and disrespectful (to put it mildly.) I have altered my original post, so would appreciate it if those that quoted it would do the same, for Clive's sake rather than for me being a dick. Thank you.

I take that route down from Camberwell Grove to avoid the buses, coaches and lorries on Dog Kennel hill. Someone I knew was killed there by an HGV a couple of years ago so I try to avoid it, and steep descents are not so much fun with the spinny gear I'm running. Spinny gear helped me accelerate quickly though out of trouble this time. I keep wondering what the guy would have done had he reached me. He could have rugby tackled me from where he was, but I suppose he would have hurt himself in the process. I guess his best bet would have been to shove me and knock me off the bike. He would still be on his feet, so would be able to hop on the bike. He wouldn't have had time to get in the toe clips, so I guess some kind of violence to keep me on the ground would have been his best bet. This wasn't a hoodie kid, from the brief glance I chanced once I broke away, he was a pretty athletic guy in his late twenties I'd say. I can't help but feel he targeted me because I was riding a nice(ish) fixed gear bike.

Someone just tried to bike-jack me on Quorn road in East Dulwich. I was just riding along, not that fast then heard someone sprinting behind me, he was wearing trainers so I didn't hear him until he was just behind me. He must have come out of the estate as I passed him. Luckily, I realised what was going on just before he grabbed me and I accelerated away like I was Chris Hoy (kind of). He muttered something like 'I'll catch you next time' but he was a bit out of breath so I couldn't quite make it out. Seems to be becoming a bit of a worrying trend. Looks like the main roads are the only option after dark. Ride safe boys and girls.

Did i ever tell you how much i hate the use of that nickname for Spurs both by their supporters and opponents?
If we are to rid football and society of antisemitism, we need to eradicate the use of that word in that context.
I hate Tottenham as much as the next man.
I was at Spurs/Chelsea/West Ham games in the eighties when the crowd gas chamber hiss was a regular feature. West Ham's particular favourite was 'I'd rather be a P*ki than a Yid'. For other fans who may want to get a picture of what this time was like I'd recommend reading Paul Canoville’s autobiography, he was the first black player to play for Chelsea in the eighties and it is not a pleasant read, as the most abuse he received was from his own fans. Spurs fielded the first ever black player in the top division in 1909 (Manc Ronnie has since the original post pointed out that he was the second), his name was Walter Tull. Unfortunately, the abuse from opposition fans lead to his withdrawal from the squad and he moved to Northampton Town. If we had won the Olympic stadium bid, a statue to Walter Tull was apparently going to be erected outside the stadium (to clarify, this was not Stratford dependent and was originally planned for the Northumberland Park project.) He died as an officer and a war hero in the first world war.
Although I am very uncomfortable with the term 'yid' as it has been used as an insult for decades, people are turning it around and saying I'm Jewish and I'm proud, there's nothing wrong with being Jewish, don't use this term against me and it seems very hypocritical of those who've been using it as an insult to get pissed off and say hang on you can't use this term. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but it's a complex issue.

Good result for the Spurs, Gattuso and Flamini were trying to up the home advantage for this leg by firing up the crowd. It was a poor tackle by Flamini, but Charlie will probably be okay. The Italians are the best at this kind of gamesmanship, so it was good to see Spurs just get on with it. There will be a lot more of this in the second half at WHL, the spurs players just have to concentrate and get on with their own game. Have to laugh at Gattuso trying to give Joe Jordan a Glasgow kiss >>>>> (Allegedly, Hutton (Begsbie) has been left out of the team since Fulham for non football reasons.)

No doubt, but based on last years financial results only 4 prem teams would be allowed in. And the only one of them likely to make it is Arsenal. Manu, City, Spurs and Chelsea would be out on their ear, as of course would Barca and Real Madrid, and probably all Italian clubs.
This is not right. As long as your expenditure does not vastly outweigh your turnover, then teams will be okay. That only really means that City and Chelsea will get banned. Abramovich is trying to get around this by setting up his handouts through a company as if they are long term loans which will get repaid. Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool will all be fine. United will be okay as their turnover is large enough to service their debt.

Cars cost a lot of money! Just got the V70 back from a 100k service where they replace the cambelt etc, and some muppet veered across our lane taking out the NS wing mirror, and it's body coloured sleeve is lying on the A303 somewhere in Somerset. 400 quid, too small to claim insurance but a hole in the wallet nonetheless.

Shit outcome Neil, nothing like first hand experience of a mistake to make sure it never happens again. So, I guess the advice we always had to park in gear came with a caveat. It might fuck your engine, but it won't go rolling down the hill taking out a hundred grand of car and or human life! You seem quite clued up about Volvo parts, but if there's anything specific you need, pm me. I know someone who used to run a Volvo garage in Pisti-land (Wantage). He may have a heads up?
Vidic won't be playing as he got a red card on tues.
