I swim 3x a week. In summer do open water stuff and it beats the pool by miles... Swimming in a still lake as the sun rises is awesome.
It's also good for aerobic fitness, and as it's low - no even - impact, great for injury rehab.
Get into running too if you can, you never know where it may lead. :)

Hello.
Having been roundly lambasted last week for using the f-word I'll try again here with acronyms.
Arguably got too many bikes already but looking to tweak one existing one to SS and build up another frame to be FG - Project F****.
Look forward to learning from you, and to continuing the biff in that nursery thread of course ;)

I've got two bikes from PX - Kaffenback and SL Carbon. Both lovely.
Had an email from them this morning saying they're having to discount some stuff (starting with £899 DA Carbon self build bikes - discount on workshop labour cost at their end I guess) and to look out for a similar offer on their On-One track frame too. Could be good for some.
From the email:
"STOP PRESS :: There's going to be a STEALTH TIME TRIAL version of this unbuilt model coming soon. Also watch for an amazing clearance price on our On-One track frame." -

Canals are fucking unpredictable. Went on a 20mile canal ride the other day, took the mtb yet well sketchy, long sections were actually more challenging than when I have actually gone 'mountain biking'. Maps give you no idea of what to expect.
Expect mud, lots of mud. Very bumpy dirt surfaces, very bumpy brick surfaces, uncleared leaves, flooded sections, awkward stairs & ramps, multiple bridge crossings where the paving runs out. Low tunnels.
Crazy people, crazy animals etc.
Think you can check with British Waterways about maint' works / collapsed paths etc when planning a journey along the canals.
No use if you're just exploring of course, but useful if you know upfront where you want to go.
This is the boating link, I'm sure there's a pathway one too if you click around - my mate mentioned it to me after he wrote complaining about bits of the canal path up here being un-passable on a ride and they wrote back telling him there's bits out of commission from time to time.

rhb, in amongst your little meander to find cartoons did you notice that this cliquey bunch had given you the answer to your 126mm spacing problem
what was that about taking sticks out of arses again… :^]
I did, and you'll notice I was quick to offer thanks.
Now... where did I put my arse stick? Hang on... this one isn't mine... uh-oh - looks like someones picked up the wrong one again... :/

yes! just bolt the hub in there to squeeze it to 120, no need to bend it - my frame has been like this for almost 2 years. time flies, eh?
(Dogsballs was a far more valuable member when he only posted Big LEbowski quotes... before he thought he knew anything about bicycles and suchlike.. :-P)Thanks both. I'll go away and learn about cold setting now :)

some things never change, eh wayno?
This place has been cliquey and unfriendly for ages...
EDIT - post #44 proves that object is not normal.Interesting. I guess now Forums are more commonplace, some of us forum newbies might just have experienced other forums, and so take a different approach to the clique-unwelcome response to a first post.
All these guys/gals want to do is put the newcomer in his place. Good effort guys/gals - I'd give it an 8/10. Nice to meet you already, so... where do I need to stand?
Maybe I can start a newbie conga line?

Wow! What a response.
I'm sure it's not that important if it's called Project Fixed or Project Fixie, but maybe you can point me to the glossary that proves otherwise? Yeah... you can use the sticks from your backsides to do the pointing and maybe loosen up a bit whilst you're at it.
FFS. What a welcoming bunch.

i can't cycle for shit, but that never stopped me ;)
