Only saw now the sad Dawes update... What an unjust ending for what I gather has been a very loyal bike.
Just being a little sentimental here: not sure on the photo but, are the rear triangle and headtube fine? If yes you're only two tubes and one fork away from repairing and at the same time you can shorten the top tube. Winston surely could confirm if viable... -

Looking good! Liking the idea of the colour matched bars. Only issue might be your clamps for shifters and brakes once the paint is on -those old suntours can be pretty tight clamp
I reckon those should shift a front three ok - they are the MTB ones arent they?
I didn't give Mario the bars in the end, just the steel stem. I'll buy one of these Humpert bars Spotter suggested.
I'm not sure the Suntour shifters are mtb ones I'll need investigate. You're right btw, clamp is tight. -
