Stem is good. Does it need to be a fancy headset?
You need something like this I think
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cane-Creek-Aheadset-1-1-8-Threadless-Cage-Bearing-Headset-/151779360992?hash=item2356c140e0It doesn't say stack height, but it looks similar to mine. Maybe ask seller...
This is headset #stacklimbo

It's pretty easy to measure now though.
A headset is ca. 34mm stack height, stem ca. 40mm so if you have +/- 74mm you can make it work.
If not, you will have get a low stack aheadset and a low stack stem. Old Cane creek ball bearing headsets and old FSA stems ahead stems are pretty low stack.
I had to put a pretty low stack headset on mine because of this same problem... -

Uhh great. Found it http://shop.hackneygt.com/events.html
Anybody on here attending?
I am in Wood Green but don't mind riding a bit to get there.
I have been going to Epping and training there. But I wouldn't min a bit more organized regular training. Meeting other people and all that. Also once I get a job I need to go riding in the evenings and a lit facilities would be nice.I am used to training at the outdoor velodrome in my home city. 25-50 people attending on regular basis for 2-3 hours free training every wednesday:

For combi pedals I have really enjoyed these. A bit heavy perhaps, but excellent feet support in reg shoes and spd side works a charm. Bearings seem to last forever and the style is neutral.

If you have enough clearance for tyres and like the geometry sure why not. I am a strong believer in aggressive geometry for sscx, no doubt.
The studs are really realy cheap from ceeway, but I have actually had great succes cutting them off trashed frames and reuse them.

You could make something like this

But they don't need to sit perfect. You can make the brake work even if you just eyeball it.
What I am saying is that, although risking your frame, you could do it yourself or get a local blacksmith to do it for a case of beers. -
