For maximum hardwearing against fixie skidding ... you can't beat Vittoria Randos:

Good cheap all round road tyre, Vittoria Rubinos are good too. Decently priced and decent puncture protection too:

For the way back we can cut through Stonehouse Road / Howlett's Loke which brings you out at Salhouse Station. Or just smash it straight up Salhouse Rd, whatever :-)
Going out should be ok but lights will definitely be needed for the return leg. It's proper dark that side of Norwich.
I'll bring along my monster front light :-)

Ok, so here is a quick overview of the route I had planned:

From the Forum we go down St Andrews and then Prince of Wales, then cross over the lights and follow Yarmouth Rd all the way to Sainsburys. Go up through Dussendale then through a little 'cut through' that takes you onto the lanes. From there on we are pretty much traffic free until we get to the brewery, give or take having to cross over both Plumstead Rd and Salhouse Rd.
Or we could just smash it straight down Salhouse Road :-)
I think I prefer the route off main roads for this particular jaunt so we can ride several abreast, take it easy and chat away.
Thoughts?

Reading a recent GQ article, something dawned on me:
What happened to male models over the years?
In the 90's I remember most of them looked like this:

Now this seems to be the norm:
