In fact it's probably garuanteed that more people won't like it as I chose a set of 80's BMX brake levers. Just like I used to race with back then. I cleaned a lot of cars to be able to afford them back then and I couldn't believe that I found a pair of New Old Stock levers in the same style packaging I had drooled over all those years ago.
I think i'll smile everytime I look at them.

No need for a flippant retort. As I've said a few times now it was a light hearted friday post to envoke entertaining responses and sponsor some debate. The whole "debate" of fakengers/hipsters and 'real riders' on this forum has been very interesting and sometimes farcical. It's like a live group dynamics study, people aligning to tribes (conciously or not) while denouncing other tribes. Often with self denial of being connected to a group. Forums are wonderful places to see interaction between people who might never interact in normal life except for a common interest that we get to share.
However it has got a tiny bit out of hand so lets put it to bed. I am a pretty well adjusted, personable and young 33 year old with a happy diposition.Self assured but not arrogant. Often to silly for my own good but more than capable of seriousness. I am not having a crisis of character or sat in a pit of desperation for approval- real or cyber.
And don't worry I have a pretty clear vision for my bike but I will definitely look to you guys for technical advice. I am at peace that it will not be liked by all people and may not even be liked by most people. But hopefully some of you realised that already.

Only use your bedroom for sleep. DO NOT use a laptop or read/chat in bed. Go straight in and go to bed and turn off the light. Try to sleep without any methods (thinking about it of course makes it worse) if you are having trouble try one of the many methods to entertain the active part of the brain. Counting backwards in multiples of 3, 4 and 7 are good. Or say a word over and over in your head. Plenty of other suggestions online.
If you can't sleep after 25 minutes get up. Without making any fuss go to another room, sit in a comfortable chair and read a book. Best with a small light behind you. After 20 mins or when you feel tired go and try again. On bad night you may have to repeat a few times.
Avoid coffee and coke and stimulants entirely when you are having a bad period of insomnia. Make sure you stick to a pattern as much as possible. Go to bed at the same time. Get up at the same time, even if you are still really tired or only just got to sleep. Don't nap later than 2-3pm.
Good luck!

HA! it's all love..
I like the bright red, as for filling the brake hole? I wouldn't bother unless you are getting fork ends fitted.
There is a dedicated thread from flickwg on 'What should I use to fill the rear brake bridge hole' if you can find it. welcome. Thanks! Thread if others need it. http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4639.html
There is a filler suitable for powder coating. http://www.alvinproducts.com/. They have a high temp powder coating filler but Armourtex don't use high temps do they?

this bike inspires me to sand the skin from my face and rub the flayed, raw wound in rock salt.
It's hard to see what you could find so offensive in such a simple bike. Nice and clean nothing to fancy or over the top. Yes the seats a bit chunky, it needs bar tape and should have a front brake with those clips but those are minor things non? Maybe a light sanding with some wet and dry but surely no rock salt? Something more akin to over vigorous exfoliation.

Damn I was out in the real world interacting with humans and missed more excitement. This thread took on a beautiful life of it's own over the weekend. The sudden influx of 80's references was a nice inclusion.
The bike had some love over the weekend. New (old) brake levers arrived so I took the opportunity to take the back brake off. It looks cleaner already but I'm going to need to fill the big hole in the bridge. As I'm going to have the frame powder coated I presume I'll need to have this welded or is there a filler that is suitable for powder coating?
Also removed some of the stickers and it looks a lot cleaner than it did. Good progress in very limited time.

Sorry Crispin, but it should be: "Your flies are undone."
@fazered: you're a disgrace to your English teacher. I demand that you raise this issue with him/her on Monday...Just heard the entire English department at my old school did a mass suicide. I feel suitably ashamed. I used language as my plaything, treating it with contempt. I know now that bad grammar for comedic effect is still bad grammar.
I'm going to go straight from now on.

Why would you want to be a hipster, surely better to be a pure rider?? You should come to south beers and see what real riders are like.. Oh yeah.. Its goin' on down there..
Well it's not a personality choice I'm making. I'm not a hipster. It's just what type of bike I have!
This was all a little tongue in cheek for a Friday but the response has been more entertaining than I ever imagined. When I move down I will definitely be coming to some of the beer meets. What else is a pub bike for?
Jesus they make some crazy frames. I don't have the bottle to wear these...
