Haha! Glad people are getting off their arses and organising more rides!
The only problem with starting so early is that the course won't actually be set out yet. I remember last year that we had to guess some of it because it was stll open to all road users and not yet closed off. I'm not sure what time they start setting up and closing the roads.
Most road closed at 7am, some later on at 8.
Elite Women start at 0900
Wheelchairs at 0920
Elite Men at 0945Seriously tempted by this road, sounds like jokes...

this may be total bullshit, but i remember reading somewhere that nikwax doesn't make goretex waterproof, just upholds its breathability? may have been on this forum so probably not right...
You don't need any chemical to make Gore Tex waterproof. The GTX membrane is inherently waterproof on it's own.
The issue is that all GTX jackets are bonded with a facing layer that is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR).
The facing layer is there to stop the Gore Tex membrane getting dirty, and also to stop it getting 'wetted out'. When either of these occurs, the membrane is no longer 'breathable'
The DWR treatments make water bead off the facing layer, but when you wash the garment this treatment is stripped off. The purpose of re-proofing agents is to return the beading DWR to the facing.
Many DWR chemicals are heat activated, so after washing Gore Tex should be ironed or tumbledried.

Mine is "Thurlow Park" - covers West norwood almost to Herne Hill
Anti Social Behaviour in general
Anti Social Behaviour related to alcohol
Dangerous cycling and/or scooteringThe cycling almost certainly relates to the yoot dem cycling on the pavements. Haven't seen any enforcement though so clearly a shit job is being done.

yep, its the hilltrek one
if you ask them nicely they will do all kinds of good stuff
iphone cable holes, deeper storm flap, remove the waist cinches (which would just get in the way of bag straps)
they have loads of colours of fabric, so i ended up getting mine with a contrasting lining
Nice one. I was considering going to SnugPak for a custom Ventile jacket (under their West Winds brand) but I've always had a soft spot for the old Green Spot jacket, didn't realise they would do customisations etc.
it is not a technical jacket
Au contraire, Ventile can be regarded as the first ever 'technical fabric'

the double ventile jacket really works - though very bizarrely in that the outer layer goes very stiff when it gets wet
That's how Ventile works. The fibres swell when they get wet, stopping any further impasse of water. Because the weave is already so tight, this swelling makes it v. stiff.
Out of interest what Ventile jacket do you wear? Hilltrek? Fancy one for cycling myself.

The only time my card was suspended by HSBC was when it was cloned.
I'm glad they monitor and suspend, meant the fuckers only got away with £250.
My brother had his Lloyds card done at the same time, they got away with £5500 and the first he knew was when he tried to take some cash out.
It's a bit of a pain in the ass when they get a false positive on their 'unsusual activity' sensors, but I'd rather they did than didn't

I washed my new Assos in the washing machine in the little bag, 30 minute cycle with delicates detergent. When I emptied the machine, they were no longer in the bag....
The Assos blue stuff is only for handwashing, and I can't be arsed with all that shit.
