Ive been reconditioning my fathers old tourer recently. Sun GT10, its about 30y.o. steel frame. Lost the usual bits and pieces and replaced the old steel wheels with something a bit more modern.
The chainline could be better to be honest, so im condsidering replacing the cranks in the future.
Currently it has a square taper bottom bracket, with a stud extension that the cranks are attached with a nut (not a bolt, a nut?)
Thinking about replacing the BB, Ive measured it and the shell is 70mm. I consulted Sheldon and its quite possibly a 71mm Raleigh 26tpi cup. Are these available anywhere? did they have different axle lengths?Alternatively does a JIS crank sit further inboard than ISO?
Any other suggestions?

dont understand why you are all so obsessed with the ghey roadie style shoes.
especially as when you talk clips/straps everyone says Vans.
get something a bit more skate style and you will find you walk better in them.
should pick up a basic spd shoe for 20 bunts.(slightly less rigid sole, worse power transfer - negligible)
ps. didnt get on with time's. spds end of. shimano mp66.

swearing on spoke cards is fine - its catchy and its guerilla tactics anyhow.
fly posting trucks with stickers - avoid swearing, the sui-side graphic works well for that.
harrass your mp to deal with the official/media/bike to work side of awareness raising.does anywhere run skills courses for riding in traffic?

when i first read the OP, i thought that you were struggling to ride a cage (flat) pedal with just a strap.
i thought it was very strange, but that didnt surprise me really. Some tard has led the way and now everyone is ditching their toe clips and just using the straps. Stranger things happen.
further reading and i see that you are struggling with clips n straps.
MTFU, i was riding with toe clips when i was ten.
Clipless is the way, but i understand your lack of fashion sense may not extend to thepcial shoes (although there are plenty that allow you to walk properly - mtb)find somewhere quiet to practice, and practice, and practice
