Just spotted two kids up by Old Street (northern end) one on rickety old MTB the other on a brand spanking new and way too big & expensive for him Gary Fisher single speed.
Had a flip flop hub at back, he was riding it freewheel and there was no cog on the fixed size.
Bike looked like a 56 / 58 and still had the reflectors on it....
Kid on mtb was white and skinny, probably about 14. Kid on mtb same age, podgy and black.
Any one had one nicked recently?

Hell yes.
Of course if you're under the thumb of an observant manager, patch the tube in your lunch time. Takes about 5 mins in the comfort of your own office and it has a couple of hours to cure before you go home and might need it again.
Or if you are the manager get one of your highly paid staff to do it for you.

Ignoring the wast issue taking this a purely a financial issue as it clearly is for you.
Tube = 4.50 say is a good bike shop estimate, more if latex.
5 minuets to replace.
patch kit = 1.50 with 10 patches = 15 pence per patch.
Time take 10 minuets.
Saving =4.5- 0.15 = 4.35 for 5 minuets work.
60 / 5 = 12.
So as an hourly rate 12x4.35=52.2 GBP per hour
So if you earn more that the equivalent wage of £52.2 ph and by fixing the tube means that you will be stopped from working for that 5 extra minuets then it does not make sense to repair the tube. Otherwise even if you earn more than £52.2 ph then you are getting an extra bit of work at a very good wage.
Plus this all comes out of taxed income so in reality could be costing you even more.

I have a Campag Chorus double crankset (39-53) for sale. Showing cosmetic signs of wear, but all threads and teeth in excellent order. £30
Also a quite new (less than 500 miles) Centaur front mech for braze-on attachment. £20Let me know if you would be interested in either. I can sort out pics if needed.
Jonlubi - thanks for the offer - however, it looks like I have what I need through retro_di_corsa

Hi
Does anyone have a campagnolo groupset available for sale or part sale / part swap?
I am not too concerned about age just that it is functional and has downtube levers.
Nor does it have to be matching grades of componentry .
The componentry I am after is:
Cranks
double front chain ring
rear derailleur
downtube levers
BB (only if servicable & not sealed)
bolt on front derailler (not essential)
brake leversThere is no need for hubs or cassette. I am going to get new wheels and would get a new cassette and chain.
If swapping I have a Rossin frame and fork available - I will post pics later.
It is a 58 with chrome forks and chainguard but could do with an Armourtexing to bring out its full glory. I paid £87 for it on ebay last year. Whilst probably too much gives some indication of market value.
Thanks,
John.

There is a map like this already:
Not sure how good it is, though. I notice several omissions.
I started this map - it does have omissions but i have relied on anecodatal evidence and Moving Target to build it up......
If you are going to do it properly a FOI request to DoT specifying that you want list of all cycling serious injuries & deaths with post codes / geo-location data attached would be a good start

are you sure? i bet they don't. what if you were considering buying a 1500 quid bike, but didn't have the money yet?
I think what they do ( this is what has happened to me in bike shops) is take a token payment of say, 0.01p on your card, then they have all the details in the system an could charge more to it if you didn't come back.
It was a couple of years back - but spitalfields branch took payment from me on CC of total price for a Spez Allez. Refunded it when I came back.....
not of any specific use, but don't be a twat like me and hope it goes away....crack on with it early and keep doing a little and often.
I ended up with 2 months to write 18 thousand words and revise for my finals. Not ideal.
