Redwing boots have escalated in price way beyond inflation/their worth. I love them and have a few pairs but £200+ is either a sign of the times or the fact that their marketing operation has got into high gear. Same happened with Carharrt stuff, US workwear in general. Nice boots but only even three years ago those Beckmans/Gentleman traveller were nearer 140. £290 would get you a pair of Whites Smoke Jumper or Semi Dress. and they are considerably better by my reckoning. You might even get stung for duty but even so, 290 for redwing is way out.

Lovely AA special - I have one and it's great. Decent price too
One thing though Sash, clicking on the pictures sends me to an incredibly annoying German pic hosting site that keeps wanting me to download a pop-up video plug-in even though I keep closing the option and saying nein, nein, nein....... it actually stopped me looking closer, um Gottes willen!
Could be just my rather dated Macbook, mind

Hmmm.
Did anyone ever try Olestra?
Quoting from wikipedia"
"Olestra (also known by its brand name Olean) is a fat substitute that adds no fat, calories, or cholesterol to products."
Sounds great.
Only a Canadian friend of mine warned that the packaging used to carry the FDA enforced comment:
'Warning. May cause anal leakage"

There was a great doc on ITV last night - The Fight of their Lives covering the tragic Nigel Benn v Mclellan fight. It was really expertly put together and very moving - I was close to tears when I saw the re-union 12 years after the fight that left McLellan almost a paraplegic at a fundraiser Benn had organised to help with his living costs.
It was also a deeply honest film - contrasting the lunacy of McLellan's corner with the reflective modern day Nigel Benn and expert opinion of commentators, boxers and trainers. And at the same time it managed to be thrilling - the fight was a raw, brutal affair, never again shown on TV, both men unwilling to lose and an outcome no one would have predicted. In short it was all that is good about boxing and all that is bad.
Redemptive, frightening and deeply moving, I'd recommend it to anyone with or without an interest and also as a documentary free from sensationalism that really get's to the core of the sport.
The young surgeon that treated McLellan immediately after the fight at the Royal London is also notable for his quiet, criticism of boxing. When asked how Mclellan is he replies:
"His brain was quite swollen, how we would expect it to look after it's been punched for ten rounds"
A really worthwhile film, on the itv iplayer at the mo
