Wooohoooo,. I'm online at last. Thanks to Teddy for organising and to everyone for such a good good day. My first ride out and me and the wife had an absolute blast...although the Warden (?) had to keep chasing Mrs L for being slow at the back of the bunch.
Lots of pics of me looking daft (no change there)...and some really great pics of the whole thing.
Cheers cheers cheers

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Unfortunately with my completely incompetent 'user' levels of ineptitude I wouldn't be confident doing any of the above myself so if anyone knows a techie that can help I am happy to pay cash as I really need my laptop up and running asap.
For info PC World wanted to charge me £150 which I think is a rip off and I fear that taking my precious files to them is like taking a Mercian to Evans.
Once again, if anyone can help the number is 07739 791712
Cheers
Jamie

my tweed will be restricted to waistcoat and cap. Moleskin and barbour ftw.
To all those who need to cadge a bowl of shag i have prepared an almond and lime blend. Quite acidic but a tasty smoke.Sounds an intriguing combination Sir certainly guaranteed to get the whiskers twicthing with taste. I may cadge the odd bowl
In terms of trousering, having been exhorbitantly outbid on some brown moleskin breeks I was after on ebay...and having rather a lot of time on my hands at present, I took needle and thread to some charity shop specials and hey presto...a pair of plus fours with homestyle panache....my days as a child of blue petering have not been entirely wasted

It never stopped me; and now I own two houses in Islington and bought the wife a £2000 mink coat for Xmas.
I think I need some career advice from you!
Is that what the wife will be wearing on Saturday?
I bloody hope not, it'll give Mrs Littigator ideas above her station...or above my wallet at least

No worries dude, at least the fuckers paid out!
Errrr, turbo with no chain...how does that work...oh and the missus won't let me have a turbo in our wee flat. Apparently, 4 bikes is already too much 'bike stuff' she says...meh!
So I guess that leaves me with your suggestion of taking a big fat sip of HTFU,
sllluuuuuurrrrrrrp!

Sh*t, I am missing about half of those, that must mean I am not even a beginner yet?!?
I will have to stop riding in london immediately.
Revised list
Beginner guide to what you ACTUALLY need to ride fixed in london- A working fixed gear bike
2. A working body with the ability to ride a bike - Be in London
That's me fucked then...sells bike, wanders off to join a macrame school instead.
To the OP, well done on making the effort of putting your post together.
Oh, and for bike books, I've found the Haines manual on bikes to be incredibly comprehensive for a basics books for all styles of bikes.

are any photographers coming along to the ride? some of the sponsors, and the bikes4africa charity that we're doing a bit of fundraising for would like some photos of the ride. anyone want to volunteer their services?
I'm bringing one along but I wouldn't profess to being learned in any way. Happy to share anything of use that I do get though.

Any suggestions on getting rid of the (AAARRGGGHHHH) stickers on Velocity rims. They seem welded on and so far it has taken me 20 minutes with white spirit and a plastic spatula to get half of one side of one rim.
