Dunno if this is any use, but 3 or 4 years ago there was a documentary following the RAF cycling team doing the RAAM, and very good it was too.

Well done ! I too have an old Look frame with an alu seatpost. So when I first read this thread I checked it as I've not touched the seatpost in about 4 years, so undid it and yes it's stuck !
Luckily it's stuck at the right height.

Sounds as if someone has used normal grease on the seatpost.
If this is the case you will never get it out.
What grease should you use ?

Wouldn't have thought Alu would stick to carbon, have you put the seatpost in a vice and manipualted the frame ?
What frame is it BTW ?

If you've got vertical dropouts, then you'd be better off with a half-link chain.

As above, drill a hole 6 - 6.5mm and route outer casing through the hole, to the end of the bars. Postion lever and tighten allen expander bolt. Thread cable inner from bar end, job done.

Hubs laced to Open Pros by a proper wheelbuilder will be plenty strong enough, and lighter than Deep Vs. Deep Vs look good but are considerably heavier, though do a nice range of colours.

Couple of mates who are into MTBs have both bought road bikes from Evans on C2W scheme.
One bought a Scott S40, which is pretty nice, though you can see where they skimped with the Truvativ chainset and some ordinary wheels.The other bought the Bianchi (which is what I'd probably choose). That Pinnacle looks pretty good though.

Oh aye, I love pro bikes and TT bikes, it's the amount of branding and associated nonsense on them of late which spoils them. The Cosmic Carbones on the Cannondale look awful.
