Hi, I'd love to get my Motobecane frame painted/powdercoated (thinking of white...its currently a shoddily painted red) but living in SW London Armourtex (yep, I've done a search) is a bit of a trek. So if anyone can recommend somewhere in the South West / West that offers a decent service I'd be much obliged if you could give me details.

I'd like to replace some things on my single speed but not overly concerned with spending too much money, so if anyone has any of the following lying around that they'd like to get rid of/sell please let me know! Preference is for black but beggars can't be choosers.

a 25.4 seatpost (300mm or so length)
44/46/48 tooth chainring
170mm or shorter cranks (or a full chainset similar to these specs)

Saw loads of fixed/ss around the exmouth market area yesterday, and a couple of unicacks with obligatory hipsters. Also some dude, not on a fixed, on red specialized road bike cycling around pissing everyone off by shouting obscenities in a bizarre stream of consciousness monologue. He narrowly avoided a pasting from a short but hard-looking barman...

If you need it in your grubby hands asap, find the cheapest price you can online, print it out and cyclesurgery (prob a lot of other shops too, but I got mine at cysclesurgery) will do a price match...I got the evolution mini reduced from £35 to £25...

It was a bit dark, could well have been, rider was late 20s early 30s short hair and stubble, seemed cheery enough. (I'm similar description with longer hair.)

Maybe not me then - I generally wear a helmet so can't see my hair! If you see a mid-20s dude on a red frame/blue fork single speed give me a wave/shout. I hardly ever see fg/ss round this way...

Spotted some fella on a fixed conversion by the cycle path/pavement intersection at Wandsworth town station, almost ran into him, I did a skid.

Spotted @ Paternoster Square: girl with a small fixed, brown/gold frame (looked nicer than it sounds), cream drop bars. Had lights on it, which I don't see that often.

Get in touch with his company, write a strong letter saying what happened and that you have witnesses - at least that way you may be able to get their insurance to cover it, and the driver would hopefully receive some disciplinary action...hmmm....

The police are plain wrong - an assault doesn't need to involve actual harm. If you were genuinely threatened and felt in danger of imminent harm, that can also be an assault. If you got the officers' details try informing the Independent Police Complaints Commission, although I appreciate that in practical terms you may not see much result. Always worth trying though.

+1 for Putney cycles. Excellent service from Barry in their upper richmond road shop - he's sorting out my old motobecane nomade a treat.
