Why don't you just use your hubs as a spacer since your wheels aren't laced. Just sayin'.

Couldn't you just use two pieces of threaded bar, eight nuts and eight washers?? It should work perfectly and it'd be cheap as really cheap chips

Right at the stem or right at the bottom of the drops...you can get them at the ends of the bars like that if you turn your hands the other way around but it's not comfy for long on your wrists

I know the feeling, there's a wicked looking Olmo frame with a fluoro rainbow finish chained up across the road from my mates girlfriends house and it hasn't moved in about a year...I'm trying to bring myself to take it and convert it but then I think...but what if it does belong to someone...it's very stressful indeed...in fact I'm off out to see if it's still there...
