I want to run a couple of these outside through a window looking in. Plugged into mains at the location (which has various 13amp sockets):
https://www.aputure.com/products/ls-600d-pro/
Click the Specs tab and it reveals the 8A. -
If a light fixture has:
Operating Current 8A
Operating Voltage (Power Supply) 100V~240V, 50Hz/60HzI presumably can't run two of them from a single extension reel which all seem to be 13a?
So assuming 2 x reels, could I run both from a single two gang socket? Presume each individual socket will have a fuse?

Set wear - any brands for trousers?
I just ordered a pair of Roig trousers which are lovely but they come up much smaller than I'd anticipated. I'm going to be on the floor a lot for a shoot next weekend and have the killer trouser combo of being both long in the leg and 40" around which rules out a lot of brands.

Anyone had anything on a commercial scale installed?
We're doing some work fitting out a venue and need a drop down screen installed. It's a large hall/ceiling so would need to be suspended somehow. It's basically the attached.
They'd want a screen to be a comparable size to the current stage. Anyone got any contacts/ballparks etc?

Anyone know anything about perspex or similar hard clear, non shattery materials? Director wants to film something being painted onto some kind of clear sheet looking through from the other side.
The sheet will need to be about 50cmx75cm - potentially a bit smaller. How thick does it need to be for stiffness? 5mm ok?
Don't want to spend a fortune for one shot ideally - was looking at 20mm and was quoted 300 quid.
We'd planned to mount from one side in a clamp but could always build a simple frame around it to support the edges I guess - minimal faff better though. A little flex is fine but flapping around like a flapper, less so.

At my company..
Cool.
Different use case - my understanding is you do quite large scale AV stuff? This is small commercial stuff with crews who like shiny things. Give them a reliable and well looked after package, make sure they have a good experience, they take the photos, other ACs book it on their next job. Entirely agree on cables being consumables, but I'm going to spend money on good cables anyway, why not spend a relatively small amount extra on some branding?

The latter. In which case, any recs for someone/where that will do me some in custom colours?
Have had a google and tbf Custom Lynx seem to have a good range but never heard of them before today and they don't do d-tap etc or HDMI in a colour I'd want. Am sure there must be a film/video specific supplier somewhere?
Edit: https://formcave.com/pages/specialty-cables comes cl0se - but USA

Anyone make their own cables? I'd like some custom braided HDMI and SDI/BNC for video (plus other bits like timecode/power/audio etc).
There used to be a camera assistant I found on Instagram but he's stopped doing it. I'll likely need lots of cables over the next year so I wondered how much investment of time/equipment was needed? -
I just made a caesar salad a la molly baz

I followed some notes I had written down (possibly incorrectly) years ago and so I basically microplaned 2 whole bulbs of garlic.
Was fucking great tbh - eggs from neighbours, iced the lettuce, chicken from the butcher on the way back from a walk etc. But I feel the scale of the allicin dose has destroyed my taste buds for the foreseeable.

Just grabbing the ones on my desk...
I think the g-tech ones on the left are all 1TB, the sandsisks are 2tb or 4tb, got 8*4, 12*2. So basically have probably already spent the same as that stupid thunderblade thing already. If you want the g-techs (r-series) I'm not really using them... Would have to check whatever is on them is safely in all the backups but I haven't used them for probably 18 months so imagine all good. I may have more g-techs somewhere but not sure. I was using their g-studio ev cartridges before that so think I only got a handful of r-series before moving to SanDisk. (I know people shit on the sandsisks for being allegedly prone to failure but I've never had a single issue with 20 drives in regular use so will keep using those for now).

I've wanted that thing for about 4 years but @ectoplasmosis has advised against it many times so I feel it must be for a reason. But it's such a nice thing... Only drawback from my perspective is barrel DC in. I'd prefer something lockable for starters and ideally that could run from v-mount (which I suspect could be adapted as long as you had a few cued up on hot swap).

Anyone own a SmallHD Ultra 5?
I want to get the new Ultra 7 for on camera monitoring but it's not available until after a shoot I want to get it for. Thinking of renting the Ultra 5 or even buying it as well but wanted some feedback on use and function before committing. Specifically the Ultra 5, not the cine/indie range which I've used before.
Edit: bought one the other day. It's thick but feels very rigid and light. Would have preferred to wait for the 7 with its weatherproofing but this seems plenty robust for now.

Thanks - that's helpful. So if nothing else I should be able to run 2 comfortably on separate cables to the same two-gang socket. Would still prefer a single drum so I don't have to buy 2 / takes up more space in the vehicle but win some lose some.
