I haven't been there yet! We usually end up with pizzas at Purezza (I haven't tried Pizzaface yet, but I've heard they are awesome too) There's also a great vegan sushi place (Happy Maki) in Brighton too, if you're around for a bit.

Oh my god that place is my favourite. Great coffee and the staff are awesome too, and there's a puppy! Perfect shop really.

Also, I'd recommend looking at front of house positions too, a lot of places will train people up from there. (Although it's always good to mention you're super keen to train and move into barista roles in the future, in case that's not what a particular shop is looking for! Always best to be on the same page.) It's also a really good way to learn how cafes work from the other side of the bar!

Auld Hoose is worth the trip for sure. Super chill and friendly pub! Also got to pet some excellent dogs there 😁

Fieldwork does some delicious porridge (with ice cream!😍) and coffee. The Auld Hoose does loads of great vegan pub food. The nachos are killer, but believe them when they tell you to share 😁 Paradise Palms is a fun bar with cocktails and vegan/veggie menu. I know there were loads of other places, but I'm drawing a total blank at the mo!

Don't even want to think about my intake 😆 if you're looking at caffeine content, generally the longer the contact time between coffee/water, the more caffeine. So filter (generally) has a higher caffeine content than espresso.

He suggests a less finer grind than usually recommended, which would increase your surface area/extraction and increase in perceived strength. Your dose might be a factor too? 60-70g/L is a good start point.

Have had a brief go on this, and it was pretty surprising! Still not quite as much body as a machine espresso, but I quite like my shots long and silky as opposed to short and sticky anyway, so it was pretty tasty.

From experience they are pretty uncomfortable to use. We had a Chris King one and it was pretty heavy and didn't fit in my palm very comfortably. Although I guess if you're not making 150 coffees a day with it. it probs wouldn't be as much of a problem 😂 they do look pretty cool. (and was always a good way to spot cycling customers!)

potato waffles! Beans, sausages...basically if it comes out of a can or the freezer it's probably good. Banana/peanut butter/oat smoothies are also good if you can stomach it, carbs and a bit of sugar.
