If it's an early flowering one, do it after flowering, otherwise Feb is the preferred month.

It's OK I guess. Definitely affects the screen's responsiveness slightly (even if I enable 'screen protector mode' in Android settings).
Quite thick and I can see little gaps around the edge but no scratches so far. It came in a pack of two.
Be careful not to put any kind of flex on it before applying because otherwise it lifts slightly at the edges and make sure that the screen is completely spotless (I used IPA and a lint-free cloth).

So long as the wood doesn't have any movement in it (tough for a door frame I guess?) then it should be skimmable. Presumably a plasterer would put scrim tape or some kind of mesh over it to give the plaster a nice key and avoid cracks?

True, but electrics like plumbing are things people sort once and then neglect unless something goes pop so you really don't know what corruption they're in and there are plenty of tales of horror in this and the DIY thread.
Also bear in mind that if you want to change something about the electrics it may involve bringing some or all of the rest up to modern standards.
Consider getting an EICR (condition report) which should rule out a bunch of basic problems.

This sort of ride needs preparation.

I didn't mind being left behind. I went into this fully aware I was in no way prepared and would do well to make it to Rye. I even had a list of possible exits along the way and a Bluetooth speaker loaded up with the finest 90s jpop for company! Everyone waited up at the tops of the climbs where I'd dropped back so we largely stayed together.

With a more sensible ratio and warmer legs I'd like to think I'd have made the distance, just about. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
