If anyone is going through Gatwick and can get some duty free the whisky shop there had a great deal on Old Pulteny 21 year old.
I was passing through on the way to Jersey. I wanted to get a bottle of Lagavulin for my Dad for his xmas pressie, but the amazingly knowledgeable old guy there suggested I try this instead as Lagavulin was sold out (not producing enough for demand)
We usually drink Laphroig, Lagavulin, Talisker, Ardbeg etc. This stuff was delicious it's usually about £80/90 a pop but they were doing it for £50ish. It was so good I got my Dad to get me a bottle next time he flew and keep it for me till I could go pick it up. Definitely my recommendation of the moment at that price. There is no way I'd pay £90 for a bottle generally. Hmm just thinking about the peaty goodness is making me salivate.

I'm looking to finally finish an idea for my side. I already have the card suits down one side and the outlines down the other. I want the outlines surrounded so they look like negatives of the other side. I would like it to look quite organic, 3D in black grey and shading. Like in baroque frames or mouldings almost William Morris. I've been looking for an artist for ages, I went to one guy and he just didn't get it (see 3 sketches).
If anyone can recommend someone who'd be into this type of stuff (preferably London based) please let me know I'd really appreciate it.

Artist was David Pozo in the Glasgow Forevermore, think he worked in the London one (might even be a part owner?).
Been tattooed by him a few times before, thought he had moved to Italy but went in to see who else was available in the studio and book for this and he was there.Anyone experienced problems with red ink? I've heard reds and yellows are the most likely to create an allergic reaction and I'm still getting quite a lot of weeping (coloured) and like I say my arm is pretty swollen. Had plenty other tats by David and other artists at the studio and not had any problems, I have my other arm tattooed in a similar place but a smaller piece and think that swelled up for a day or two and also have elbow on other arm tattooed and I'm sure it swole up quite a bit too just this seems a bit worse.
Maybe I just need to HTFU.
I used to live in Glasgow and know some of the guys from Nevermore, Dave does some really good work.
I've had problems with red ink before, specifically Starbrite. Just took ages to heal and didn't heal very well looked shit, and was horribly itchy. The next time I got tattooed I asked the artist which brand of red he used found it was Starbrite again and got him to use something else instead, no problem at all. Find out which type of ink you had problems with and avoid it in the future. Not terribly helpful for your problem now i know.

So I have a brand new Bianchi pista frame with a new warranty (which I won't be voiding by removing decals)
I went to NYC on business last week. Took my frame with me, arrived Sunday dropped the frame in on Sunday lunchtime the guys at Chelsea bikes were really cool as always. Got an email on Monday evening saying come pick up the new frame whenever you like. Just had to pay shipping of £60. That is proper customer service.
Only downside was BA fucked me, they changed their baggage allowance and now you only get one piece of hold luggage on transatlantic flights! So I had to pay £40 there and back. So all in all it cost me £140 for a frame that's only worth about £200 and something. Bum.
I was originally planning on selling it to fund something new but now I think I might just keep it as I always really liked it no matter what everyone days about pistas. The only thing is I'm not sure what year model it is. How can you check?

He carried too much speed into the corner and hit the railings. Road rash on his arm and face, bloody nose. Looks like he really winded himself more than anything cos he refused a ride in the ambulance and walked down to the finish to cheers from the crowd.
oh good glad he's mostly ok he was on the floor for quite a while i didn't wait around to see what happened though.

This apparently is my skid face ^
Congrats again Jim. Good to put some other names to faces EEI and Nelaii.
Was great to be a small part of such a great event. Getting to compete for minimum effort and loads of glory! Happy with 3rd place. Can't even imagine the level of fitness needed to actually race, seriously impressive.
On a down side i saw a really nasty crash at the top end in the race after the skids up at the top end by the crossing, paramedics and everything the guy seriously tanked it into the railings and didn't get up. Does anyone know if he was ok?
looking forward to next year

Cheers Hobo good to hear some positive info. I was thinking about going with Tiny Miss Becca, but wasn't sure about her faces then by chance I saw something Kate did on a girls arm, looked her up and she's amazing!
