Productive day in the office for me sorting out my schedule. Think provisionally I'm going to do the following:

8 May Farnham RC 10
13 Jun Reading CC 50

7 Aug Surrey Lge TT ??
11 Sep Redmon CC 10

26 Sep Epsom CC 25Might even try and do the Surrey Lge race as a 2-up with Mrs S, although I'm not sure how long I could hold her wheel for.

Rebecca R is also riding in my race on Sunday, hope she's knackered.
Where's Mrs Willo racingon sunday? Dont think she's on my start sheet
She isn't. Her TT schedule doesn't see her racing again until April, although she does have some road racing and a couple of duathlons in the schedule. She steps up a bit in May, with a 10 and then 2x 50s. Thereafter we are into the nationals, where she is racing in the 10, 25, 50 and 100. She is even talking about doing the 12 hour (personally I hope this is just a passing idea, as I suspect racing in this will be a lot easier and less stressful than being support to Mrs S...)

She can't be going hard enough if she's got time to smile for the camera! ;-)
This is an interesting debate - she deliberately kept her power at or just under 300 watts going up Hurst Hill.
I have seen a comparison of her file with that of one of the Kingston Wheelers chaps (who she beat by just under a minute) showing their relative time advantage / disadvantage over time. Now it is clear that the KW rider took back about 20 seconds on the first 2/3 of the ascent. However, what is equally clear is that she recouped this time plus some within the next km so that over the 3kms from the start of the climb she had made a net gain of 10 seconds over him.
Anyone who has watched Hutch race will know that he sets off as if ambling - this is the same dynamic at play: you maximise your overall pace by trying not to exceed your threshold power. Or in old-fashioned speak, you learn how to pace yourself.

If Saturday was cold, Sunday was evil. Mrs S raced in the Surrey Hard Riders - minus 3 degrees when she started (or so she claims). I didn't go out til gone midday, and did 70-odd miles out to Surrey and back; it was still really cold, with a nasty wind to boot, although at least the sun was shining.

How much of a pain in the arse is it for a wheelbuilder to tension up a wheel (Ambrosio Excellight rims to 32h pmp hubs)? The reason I ask is that I have just asked my LBS to rebuild my wheels after an open pro rim failed. When I took them out for the first time over the weekend, I noticed more flex than I would like when climbing out of the saddle.
The wheels are perfectly true, but the spokes do not feel under a great deal of tension - so I put this down to tension.
I don't want to upset the builder, as he is a mate (and while he is a great mechanic, I have no idea how experienced a wheel builder he is).
So, should I take them back, and ask him to sort; or take them elsewhere (and if so where - SW London)?

In case anyone has forgotten:

Absolutely - she is focusing on the National 10, 25, 50 and 100, together with the World Duathlon championships. It is the same bike that Nicole Cooke rode at Beijing, with different bars.
