@qckpckt get some notes on the position of CCTV cameras there (if you haven't already). I'm assuming there should be plenty what with the bus depot and the post office etc. Glad you're ok. Horrible horrible story. Oh and a spot on AndyP (99% certain) heading south on Walworth road 6pm ish today. I was on foot and realised too late to give a wave.

Not especially big news, but anyone doing cross or off road on a cross bike and after a fit and forget tyre I can seriously recommend the Mitchelin Mud2.
2 of us out in the snow in Brockwell park on saturday night/sunday morning both sporting the muds and I could ask for nothing more. It's not often I get out on the bike anymore but these are confidence inspiring tyres'

This may be a little premature. I'll know definitely what the situation is tomorrow, but I'm bumping this as we potentially have another room available in our flat for 6 months.
It's a slightly smaller room, but with a view out from the front of the flat.
You'd be living with Me, and 2 other girls.
If you work 9-5 and like to come home and curl up on a sofa in front a massive TV, this isn't going to be the right place for you. We don't have a television.
The flat has theatrical equipment coming and going as well.
The 2 girls work in the theatre and I'm supposedly a composer.
We'd be looking for someone of a similar creative background. You must be working as you wont be able to claim benefits (being a sublet etc etc).
hold tight for further info.

So I'm currently looking at various internet options at the moment, after having a bit of a nightmare with virgin cable.
I recently stumbled upon this rather exciting new development in mobile internet - mifi.
The service seems to be offered by a few different providers - the one that really caught my eye is from 3:
It seems like a rather neat solution for my internet needs - I'm a heavy user of data on my iphone, and spend a lot of free time internet browsing at home on my laptop.
however, I haven't been able to come up with any comprehensive details regarding how much data I would be using by, say, streaming a tv show off iPlayer.
Also, im unsure as to how it would work on my xbox. I wouldn't use it for xbox live, but I do like to have it connected to the net for system updates/profile information etc. How would these requirements affect data consumption?
I find the 1 month rolling contract of £15 pcm with a £39.99 up front payment to be the most appealing. That gives me 5 GB of data per month.
I do have (limited) access to BT Openzone hotspots at home at the moment, thanks to my dad's bt total broadband package login info, but only in my front room. It's slow and unreliable - can't stream off iplayer on my laptop with it. I can however do any major downloading on this (sort of).
What do you lot think? I like the fact that it is essentially a portable wifi network, with a decent amount of charge. I'm considering purchasing an iPad in the near future, and this is a much neater solution than having 3 or 4 different data plans across different devices. I guess my main question is - is it worth spending this for the sake of being ultra mobile?
sorry to drag this up.
Any one else use a device like this?I'm setting up the internet in my flat as it's new contract time as a flatmate is leaving the country and I don't want to renew their service. I'm sick and tired of being cornered by having a landline (we live above commercial premises and can't get virgin cable).
There would be 4 people sharing the network. 50% mac and 50% PC users.
Anyone with direct experience?Cheers

About 8pm, Chap on a hybrid at Camberwell Green riding towards Kings College hospital wearing a gas mask.
I had to triple take, but very few people around him seemed to notice/care.All I could think was it must make riding very, very hard work.
Anyone on here see him today?
edit> I can't imagine this is the ninja with stealth spoks, in a gas mask that has been spotted elsewhere.

Hi dglshrn,
just to help widen your search, any canti brake will work with sti levers.
some potential good prices on these 2 ebay auctions (not mine).
Either of these brakes could be set up to work well:These look interesting:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dia-Compe-972-Cantilever-brakes-front-and-rear-Retro-/330649544824?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item4cfc3fa878And hoping not to teach you to suck eggs, If you have an older narrower spaced fork you may have difficulty running modern mtb brake block fittings, so you may have to look for a brake that uses blocks on posts, like frogs legs

I've run 32mm tyres (measured, not what is printed on them, which has been 35mm and 30mm) on open pro rims with no problem.
This is at relatively low pressures too -around 40psi.(To counter that I've run 23mm tyres on a wider touring rim too, also with no problems.
It just looked very different to the front wheel which was an open pro.)However the bike was not loaded. If you are doing proper lugging of stuff around I would go for a wider rim.

The increased stack height probably wouldn't make anything weaker in real world terms, although there is a theoretical weakness. Just keep the bolts tight and you'll be fine.
However it will change your pedal stroke.
It will have the effect of making your crank shorter at the 6 o'clock position and Longer at the 12 o'clock position. It might have a slight eliptical effect as you transfer through 3 and 9 too. These will be minor though; you may not even notice. You'll need to raise your saddle by the equivalent of the increased stack height at the 6 o'clock position, but that's all you'd need to do.
Have fun!

Once upon a time one used to able to get a 3 bolt converter plate designed specifically to run 2 bolt cleats. Back then shimanos spd-r system used the same 2 bolt pattern.
You could even get the plates with raised MTB grip sections at the sides of the cleat fixing area so you could use them for light off road walking.
I remember looking at them in a bike shop circa 2002.Your shoe stack height would be quite high using this system though.
They may pop up on ebay once in a while, but you can get MTB shoes for not much so I'd just go for a new pair and not have to bother with waiting for something you may never find.

Don't really understand the question.
You want to work as a courier for 2 days?
2 days a week or just 2 days?I doubt many companies will take part timers on these days and if they do you'll be very far down in the pecking order as it will take some time for you to build up a rapport with your controllers.
I used to work part time, but it wasn't worth it as you would take so much longer to learn routes etc. I went full time and just bunked when I needed to.If you do manage to get with a company be prepared to earn really bad money. It is grim out there these days.
If you just want to work as a courier for 2 days knock on the door at Courier systems. They'll pretty much take anyone on, but they used to have a funny deposit scheme for the radio so you'll be fighting for that if you jack it in in 2 days. I wouldn't recommend working for them as they are crap, but they'll take beginners on.To be honest get a different job and commute by bike. You'll enjoy the cycling more.
Head over to movingtarget and have a good read of everything there.

Please buy this:

Not mine I hasten to add, but I reckon it will be well worth expanding your budget for, Although it may well end up over 200 I reckon get a bid in at 160 and see how you bet on.
A day return to rugby is about £20 so same as postage really and buyer collect bikes always go for less. Could get a real bargain although your guess is as good as mine on the reserve.
ON the trek I'd get the guy to get exact measurements of top tube and seat tube as from the picture it is very difficult to gauge dimension ratios. Could end up being very long.

Light and straps received.
Thank you!For anyone wondering about the water proof capabilities, the torches have a groove in the thread at both ends of the centre tube where one can fit an O ring. Add some silicone grease (or any grease if you don't mind replacing the O rings regularly) and you'll have an effective seal.
Cheers

Hello all.
A long shot:
After some 170mm road cranks for under 20 quid. Basically spa cycles do a great budget set for £20 and I'll go for that unless an absolute bargain comes up here.I don't need rings unless its campag' 135mm BCD and If so I only need the 39 ring.
I don't want an older fluted style chainset either. If they take JIS square taper a BB of appropriate width would be good and all in at under £30 would be excellent.
Would prefer cash transaction in london.
Anything going?
Cheers
Thomas
Having to raise some capital for up coming recording sessions so I've got some bits to sell:
•Dura Ace 9 speed (double) STI levers. Perfect functionality, rough cosmetic condition SOLD
•Carradice Barley saddle bag. Bought for Dunwich and summer pootling, neither of which I can really do anymore so this is for sale. Looks mint apart from wheel scuff under the bag, which I can't fathom as the bike it was on had mudguards. All the leather straps included and are in excellent condition.

£30
^Wheel rub on underside of bag. It's double layered here for exactly this reason.
•Shimano 105 wheel. SOLD
•Profile Airwing bars and bar end levers. cut down to fist length (basically the angled bar end section has been removed)

42cm c-c, 26mm clamp.
£15
•Octalink 105 chainset (FC 5501), with BB bolts, but no chainring bolts. 130mm BCD. 175mm length.

Might have a 52 tooth ring to throw in with these.
£5
•Unknown brand (sorry not deda) OS (31.8mm) road bars. Nice and stiff. 44cm c-c. tape residue etc.
£5
•BBB Cut down alloy shot peened silver lo-riser bars. seem to remember they are 45 cm end to end. 25.4mm clamp. Scratches etc.

£3
OT
•NAD 3020 amplifier. Wonderful warm sound. Only selling as I have 2 and can't justify keeping 2 anymore.
£60
•Apple Macintosh G5 tower. Fried mother board. Still got a functioning optical drive (super drive?) in it which could be re-used. RAM and Hard drives removed. Looks fresh in photo, but there are scuffs etc.

£Free
Offers accepted. Payment is cash. Dibs count for nothing if you don't contact me via PM.
Sorry nothing is getting posted as I'm working crap shifts and am in the studio a lot currently so can't get to the post office. My loss.......
