Hello All,
I'm after a specialized Avatar or Jett female version in 143 width.
Would also consider a lower model so long as it isn't spongy and soft. Not got a huge amount of cash to spend, but might have some bike bit swaps to sweeten the deal.
London based, no posting as don't use paypal.Anyone?
Cheers
ThomasPS I'd rather not go for a white one.
PPS I'll post this in classifieds too. -

Sorry this is a massive digression, but I'm fresh in from the pub and this comes easily.
Who told you it was a cartilage problem?
The NHS are generally pretty shit when it comes to diagnosis of knees problems (and indeed any specific use injury) stemming from cycling. This isn't a criticism of the NHS as they simply don't (and why should they) have access to knowledge of niche activities that may alter their diagnosis.
I talk from experience.
Gearing down may not help, (well actually that depends what gearing you are using now)
What foot retention do you use?
Do you have one leg longer than the other?
If so is it the calf or thigh that is longer?
How long are your legs?
What size cranks are you using?
Do you have High/low arches?
Does one leg bow in/out during pedaling? If you do stop cycling (you should for a bit, seriously) does your knee feel better?
Any way, Good luck!

Ok this may be digressing a bit, but it may be of interest to others too:
Stronglight Impact "kid" chainsets, with 34/44 rings.
http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s109p1927available in lots of short lengths up to 155mm.
Do not be put off by the silly child associations in the product name, these are great cranks and could help with a lot of fit issues suffered by smaller riders. -
I'm not female so apologies for butting in, but another thing to consider is putting much much shorter cranks on your new bike cafewanda.
The knee hitting the chest thing is partly attributed to this.
Shorter cranks will mean you raise the saddle too, and will bring your position on the bike rearwards, so a shorter frame might be in order.
Sadly a lot of, if not all, off the peg small size road bikes will have 170mm cranks.
You may benefit from 160 or shorter still.I can't remember if it was SJS or somewhere else, but they would shorten cranks by drilling a new pedal mounting thread further up the crank

Hi Caaaallum,
Could you measure the PLT bars please and tell me if they are 44cm centre to centre or outside edge to outside edge (could you make this measurement at the ends of the drops )
Normally I'd ride a 46, but if these are centre to centre 44cm I might be interested. Are you London Based?
Cheers

I see this has been resolved, but in case anyone else has the same issue, file the ring(s).
This is exactly what I did to get some rings of my favoured size to fit a centaur compact chainset.
1 - elongate the hole on the ring that sits behind the crank arm to accomodate the offset.
2 - file the flat surface on the ring behind behind the crankarm if your ring is thicker than the campag standard.
Took a while and isn't too pretty, but worked a treat.
