Posting this for general amusement really (and to improve one handed typing)

Anyone ever had their front foot slip off their pedal and go into the front wheel?
I did on the morning of new years eve.

I've been using clipless pedals for 10 years, but recently moved to flats (on a freewheeling, geared bike) in an attempt to try and resolve some achilles issues. It helped a lot so I knew something needed changing with my pedal/cleat/shoe/technique.
I never really lost the instinct to lift on the pedals though and his proved to be my undoing:

Accelerating to change lane my right foot slipped forward and straight into the front wheel. Bang! a crumpled mess on the road.
Thankfully there wasn't a car behind me and concerned pedestrians helped me off the road.

Anyway, long story short - lots of arm and leg cuts and grazing, buggered toe and a fracture to my radial head (bone near to elbow).
I'll heal, but my bike wont sadly - not sure about the frame, but new forks are needed, new bars and a replacement for my beloved new dynamo light (hoping the hub is ok - will know when wheel is trued soon).

Ah well :)

Hi Vesalius

The bag itself is shower proof - the cordura is treated to resist water and there is a lining of slightly rubberised fabric inside.

However there is a fold out rain cover underneath the bag which covers everything so yup this is a pretty waterproof set up.

My sis' is selling her Brasher gore tex lined Lithium GTX womens walking boots in a UK size 8. These are hardly worn at all, not even taken past the breaking in stage as her trip was cancelled.

We have a constant hot water boiler at work which I've tried a few times with the aeropress but with no luck. Even the best beans come out tasting bland and dull. I've given up using it.

Agreed, everything I've made using one of those (the tap, not the aeropress) tastes disgusting. I'm annoyed that I wasted my good coffee and not used the crap in the cupboard at work.

It's something to do with having all the oxygen boiled out of the water apparently.
