hahahah so they not even have a bike that's funny ..so lets give to court for people who is not taking serius the sport cool
this is not at all what i meant. On the contrary turning up on a cold evening shows that those guys are taking it seriously.... (and to be honest i was not even considering who is serious about polo or not) What i wanted to put across is that if the league game was not on last Tuesday there would have been 2 available courts with only 2 people turning up and with no equipment. The fact that last tuesday there was a game it actually worked positively on the Beginners' session. This does not mean it will always work positively - i am just talking specifically about last tuesday.

I was speaking to a beginner last night who turned up on Tuesday and only got one throw-in because of the league game that was happening...
If you wanna play at Newt, do it on a non throw-in night...
Hey Joe,
Last Tuesday there was a totally empty court while the league game was on. (i tried to encourage beginners to go on that and play as there were no kids no one else on it.) The court remained empty all evening until the lights were out)....(i think another thing to consider is bikes - the 2 beginners who turned up had no bikes, the other 2 new people were my friends who came to laugh at me)

Yep as Rick said, whatever the committee decides about the game (re: our very last minute sub) is totally fine with us. Thanks maddie for playing. It was fun. Big thanks to the refs: it was so cold so Thanks for coming! Oh rick sweet write up :)
About the very late notice of our team being down one, it sucked especially knowing that the other team and refs and friends were down there in such cold weather so we just wanted to play the game rather than waste the journey of everyone. Anyway. 22 goals well deserved. Well done westway. -

having a bit of a situation...
got a text right now (6:35pm) from Jo saying he has a cold and it is too cold and doesn't want to make it worse. (our game against WestWay is in 50 mins)
Ana and i are on the way down... (abit unsure what to do..) 2 against 3 (even a bigger present for westWay ;) ? if we do not play the game we automatically lose 15-0, but to be honest i prefer to play and lose with a bigger difference than not play but then i guess this is a bad choice for ThunderShafts.... )Any suggestions?

AH,
so does that mean any play possible, or will it be just watching?
M
the game should not affect the beginners session.
Beginners session should be on as usual as long as there are enough people showing up fo the session. The thing that would probably affect the Beginner's session is the netball team (which leaves at 7ish anyway so the court is free then) - Ben is dealing with them. -

Netballers are there every Tuesday over winter from 5.30-7.30pm so we should either start later or have beginners a different day perhaps Thursday.
Footballers are on the other court and they also finished around 7.30pm this week.hey, Jackie, maybe give a shout to Ben Beagle (he is the Beginners Officer) about this, re-establishing a regular day could be tricky - but obviously whatever the decision/proposal get Beagle on board.
Hey cheers for all the advice guys! I though buying an old golf club for £1 or something might be quite a good route. Like the bamboo idea though as well!
don't do it ;)

Hi guys,
Is there a beginner session near stoke newington anytime soon?hi JamieLewis,
Beginners' sessions are on Saturday mornings (10am) at London Fields (in the MUGA, right in the middle of the park) and onTuesday nights at newington gardens, Harper Rd (SE1) - it is important to check back here on the day, if the sessions are going ahead.
(there are regular sessions north east, maybe after you had a few goes at beginners; these are at Hackney Downs and on Mitchison road (off essex road) and newington gardens. (check the threads)
