Yeah, I'm thinking something along the lines of 50x16, gonna have a tinker with my setup sometime, see what feels good at speed. Can't wait for some empty streets.
I'm naturally lean too, been trying to build some mass but it's pretty hard with the amount of cardio I do, short of perpetual eating :)

oh you were speaking to her, huh?
grrr...
sulks over beans on toast.
Turn that frown upside down Mr. Brows - I was speaking to both of you, but yes, I am only doing the cycling bit. The idea of doing the whole would be appealing, but I HATE running with a passion, and whilst I enjoy swimming, my technique sucks and I just end up an air-less mess after a few lengths.
As I understand it you can't do it fixed, but what's the opinion on single speed? The route looks pretty flat, and I can't really be arsed with trying to find a bike to borrow. Plus it would be more fun to do it on Bob.
I don't think I'm going to be doing much prep beyond my normal weekly mileage, but if anyone's doing any longer weekend practice give me a shout. Otherwise say hi on the day - with the team event I take it there's a fair amount of waiting-around in the change-over area (I've never been near a triathlon before :)...

As the title suggests, need a fixed wheelset for my pub/it's pissing it down ride. 700c, doesn't matter if they look a bit shitty (that's kind of the point), but do need to be structurally sound.
Similarly some cranks - need to be square taper, 165-170, ideally around about a 50T on the ring but not too bothered.
Can pick up south, central or east (probably even west if it's not too far west), so if you're planning on having a clear-out, give me a shout. Not expecting anything for free, just not looking to spend more than I wouldn't mind getting nicked...
Cheers then!

I'm actually planning on doing this route with some friends over the weekend (forum unrelated I'm afraid). If it goes well I might be up for this next month :)
Can I ask what the stop at Gatwick is like? Is there somewhere specific you're stopping to get food, or is it more of an arbitrary point to pull-over and eat your sarnies?

Good news, 'friends'; after spending literally hours of my employer's time looking for some, I found these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250306566925
Aparrently they're meant for Harley Davidsons, but they fit Nitto drops PERFECTLY and look ace.
If you're reading this thread in the future and the above link has expired, they're described as 'Smooth Chrome Handlebar Grips End Plugs', and I got them from a seller named Hogparts, store here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hogparts-UK-Ltd
