So I bought this Cougar road bike off a guy on another forum. I thought It'd be a good winter trainer. Keep me out of mischief on a Sunday.
It is listed as 60cm road bike.
Me to him: 'Can I ask, is it 60 c-t-c or c-t-t. I'm 6'4" so obviously bigger is better.'
Him: 'It is 60 to centers'
Me: 'And what is the top tube'
Him: 'the frame is 60x60cm'All good me thinks, I'll take it.
Turns up today it, I pull it out the box, it's well packed, a good sign I think.
"That looks like a pretty short headtube", I think to myself, well, put the wheels maybe it has a lot of clearance or something..
Wheels on - This looks really short.
'where's my tape measure...' **56 x 57.5**

what I saying about him, can be perfectly be with what you say about him. He can be the same persons, I don't know him, just the nice bikes he sell.
Yep. Always seems to be very clued up listing which gives all the right signals.
Yeah, Nathan is the guy's name, I've known him for years and and he's has always had a shed load of nice kit. He is totally sound and can be trusted.

Nah, probably not but it is hard to tell how large it is. If it gets another bang or if you crash it is more likely to fail there if it is a significant size. If it is just a ding it shouldn't be a problem at all. Email the dude selling it and ask how bad it looks in real life, and also find out if he has the seatpost, if not proceed with caution. As far as I know there are very few spares out there.

Fail.
Valve caps are another one of my issues I'm working through with my therapist.
They are not necessary and serve one purpose - slowing down your tube changes should you p_nct_re. I've NEVER had a presta valve fail. Schraeder, since the valve bit is recessed and they sometimes collect little stones might warrant a valve cap but even then I've had a stuck valve maybe twice in 10+ years riding schraeders.
Say no to valve caps!
Say no to those little thread valve thingies!
Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos! Those little thread valve things are useful as if you get a slow puncture, or your tyre just has low pressure, then without them you can't press the adapter onto the valve because it just pushes back past the rim.
Say yes to to those little thread valve thingies!
(Say yes to aligned valves and tyre logos!) -
There you go. Perfectly executed.
I've used these before and they worked fine.
You have to file down the relief part that normally sits in a rear facing drop out though. It took all of about two minutes and then you have a strong, cheap, though ugly tensioner. I would say though that they are quite thick so you have to have a bit of extra length on the axle (I was using Goldtecs which are bolt on so that matters less) -

Can we get back on track here. No pun intended. Bikes should be ridden and if they can feature a heart on them so much the better. -

Unfortunately Arnie has had to pull out due to, well, the rent. So old faithfull is up again.
Redline BMX cruiser. 4130, a good jump bike but not for me anymore. It has 1pc cranks on it now and it bears the phrase "A pawnshop ain't no place for a wedding ring" and "Skid Row Wino's" tastefully scrawled on the top tube for a bit of extra character. (It was the Sheffield style at the time). £60 ONO -

^what bars are they?
They are vintage ITM but I've no idea what the model is called. I've seen Soma do some similar shaped ones called Arc bars but they have some awful logo on them. The swoop back on them has made the stem feel a bit short so I might have to change it for a longer one but it's one of those 70's ttt one's with the record, size and ttt cut outs. I feel it is going to be damned impossible to find another one.

**SOLD*
Cougar Road bike.(built by Terry Dolan)
56cm frame (c-t-c, 58 c-t-t) built from Reynolds 531. **Forward facing dropouts.
Fitted with SKS mudguards.
Ultegra (600) 8 speed STI and rear mech. 105 9 speed brake calipers, Tiagra front mech. Sram Rival chainset 170mm with 53/39 rings.

I'd say it needs a new chain really, (and pedals of course) other than that seems well used but, well cared for and overall good. I have ergo levers and DT shifters if you prefer.

This just arrived here to me a couple of hours ago but I bought under the belief that it was a much bigger size. (60 c-t-c in fact)
It seemed like a good deal to me and you can have it for what I paid for it;
*SOLD*
or it goes back to the seller (who is in Scotland ergo it is a bit of an ache).
