I know what you mean edmundro but I can't go excluding people with gears. After all, people have to ride whatever they need to to make it and have as much fun as possible. I reckon more people could do it without gears than they think though.
I do like the idea of about them carrying cargo though. Maybe those with gears can carry the refreshments! In fact, they could ride ahead and hand out musettes from the side of the rode to those on fixed.

You Do NOT need a jersey for this ride......but it would be nice if you do.
You may have heard that I'm leaving for Australia on 9th July and before I go I'd like to repeat the Vintage Jersey Ride that a few of us did during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
THIS IS A SOCIAL RIDE. NOT A RACE.
**START TIME 1pm FROM SMITHFIELDS MARKET **
SHOULD REACH END (SCOLT HEAD IN DE BEAUVOIRTOWN) BY 6PM.
URL for this route is: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2708673
Check out the last one ....http://www.londonfgss.com/thread16362.html

FRONT BRAKE IS RECOMMENDED
*FOR JERSEYS, PLEASE SPEAK TO JD, OR VISIT EBAY. (CONVICTS OF THE ROAD ARE A GOOD BET, WILL BE HAVING A SALE FROM ABOUT WED AND THEY ARE BASED IN LONDON. PUNCHEUR IS COMING AND RUNS CONVICTS OF THE ROAD. HE CAN BRING ANY JERSEY YOU BUY WITH HIM).*
I'll update this with a new spokecard design and any detail changes.
Everybody is welcome to buy me a drink afterwards! Make a night of it if people are up for it. Anybody who wants to just come for a drink in the evening is very welcome. You don't have to do the ride to hit the pub afterwards.
BTW - It is OK to wear the same jersey you did last time. It is actually OK to not wear a vintage jersey at all, but a little effort would be nice.

I think you're right.
@ retro - maybe I could borrow your tools for the removal, and then bring them back for the reconstructing? Armourtex is near me in Hackney. My depot is near you in Waterloo, so I could pick them up on my way home from work one afternoon maybe?
I'll order the decals tonight (the ones from Australia).

I haven't booked it. They say you can just walk in. So when just depends on the when I can arrange to borrow tools and assistance really.
I just said weekend to weekend, but it could be less of course.
By the sounds of it I could borrow your tools and for the parting stage and pop round to retro's for the second stage.

@ dmc - Cool. Could I borrow them next Sunday at the track day maybe please? Then return them after the powdercoating is done? Hopefully the weekend after.
I'd also need to borrow a decent crank extractor. Mine is a cheap piece of rubbish.
@ retro - that sounds like a plan for the replacement of the parts. Thanks for the offer.

I'm going to take my new frame to get powdercoated but don't have the correct tools to remove the Campagnolo 'outy' BB and headset. Done it plenty of times on my old Raleigh with plumbers wrenches, but want to do this one properly. Shouldn't take too long to do.
Once it comes back from the powdercoaters, I'd like a little help and use of tools again to do the reverse. The BB is currently as smooth as butter and I'd like to put it back in so it's just as smooth.
If anybody has the tools and know how, I'd appreciate your time one weekend/evening in the near future.
Getting rid of loads of my stuff before I leave for Oz, so you are welcome to a TV or something in return!

I'd say anything pre 90s is acceptable. But I'm not going to be a vintage nazi about it. As long as it looks good....which unfortunately rules that one out! ;)
